Introduction

As most of you know, Netflix is going to make a serie and potentially some movies about the Witcher. The Witcher is based on the novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapowski and while the first book (sword of destiny) was officialy released in 1992 the books became really populair once CD Projekt RED started making games about The Witcher. With CD prioject RED selling more then 20 million copies of the Witcher 3 Wild hunt it's safe to say the game was a huge succes. With only two more seasons of Game of Thrones to go till the end it's time for a new Phantasy serie to look forward to but what can we expect from Netflix and what are we hoping for?

Summary

The Witcher takes place in a medieval fantasy world and mostly follows the story of Geralt of Rivia one of a few remaining witchers, traveling the witcher world and hunting for monsters with supernatural powers.

Since the books already actually made characters with enormous amount 
 of depth and good dialouges we expect 
 Netflix will just take that from the books, 
 but what does Netflix as a Network have to provide.

Good setting

While we know that green screens are getting more and more advanced every day there is nothing better then having a good set-up with some real authentic locations. It just feels all the more real, We know that setting up a medieval fantasy world without green screen is really expensive but it just isn't something you should cut expenses on . You will have to find a good mixure between the green screen and filming on a great locations. 

Theme

When you play the witcher games or read the books you can pretty much say that it's going to be a drama-action show, personally I would understand that and be totally fine with it, but secretly I hope it will also become a bit of a political thriller. with political thrillers on the rise like House of Cards I would love to see a mixture between the three. The action is most likely going to be about killing different monsters and while that is exciting at first if you try repeating that over and over again my guess is people will start to lose interest. The witcher games and books have enough political action, depth and content to achieve that and I feel that a mixture of those three could be really good. it makes the show more dynamic and will probably get a lot of more people interested.

Actors

I know fans have already picked their favourite actors for the series, and while some are likely to happen some are definetly not. Just like Game of Thrones the witcher world will have a huge cast and famous actors are really expensive and it creates a high level of expectation difficult to achieve. To be honest I would love to be surprised by great new actors who are not all to known. It worked for Vikings and Game of Thrones so it can also work for a witcher serie. One thing most networks do is bringing in a known/famous lead actor to the serie to achieve some level of class. In that case most fans seem to like Mad Mikkelsen as Geralt of Rivia and Charles Dance as Emperor Emhyr Var Emreis. Both actors seem likely since they have worked in similar movies/network series before and fans loved their performance and to top all of that Charles Dance did a voice over of Emperor Emhyr Var Emreis in the game Witcher III Wild Hunt. 

End it

We all know those series who were good at first but they keep extending it and extending it till you are fed up with it and just dont watch it anymore. Luckly the books are written and it gives a little bit of a safe guard but dragging a show on and on and on makes it just not a great serie we can later talk about as one of the greatest shows.
