My friends’ documentary, “The Great Hack” just nominated for an Oscar! 🏆
Ok, so I couldn’t wait to post this, tomorrow !
The Great Hack, the latest vital documentary from award-winning husband and wife duo, and my dear friends, Karim Amer & Jehane Noujaim, has made the 92nd Oscars Shortlist just announced. 👏
If you’ve not seen it already, head to Netflix (if you can). Here’s a peek:

The Great Hack is a deeply unsettling and sophisticated exploration of how ignorance is not bliss. Part public service announcement, cautionary tale, and rallying cry to know our data rights, ‘Hack’ spells out, starkly, what we darkly suspect about the way we live, now.
This is not the kind of scary movie that tries to frighten us with fantasies, rather it’s a horror film of a higher order, that confronts us with our startling reality.
If the creepy commodification of your online existence and how private information might be weaponized/used against us concerns you, I urge you to watch this necessary documentary—already, receiving rave reviews in NYT, The Guardian, Financial Times & Rolling Stone magazine, etc...
Since watching The Great Hack I’ve become more cautious (read paranoid) about how my data is used & have installed tighter security on my computer to monitor suspicious activity. I was disturbed to get this message from my protection software:

As another aside, on a personal note, I’m proud to announce that I also worked with this prolific directing couple of The Great Hack, Jehane and Karim, on a forthcoming HBO docu series exploring the perversion of ideals & how we can be manipulated, as viewed through another lens: the cult of NXIVM. Look out for it, early 2020 ✌🏼
