Ars Technica has a new write up on Jaguar's I-Pace concept car.

Here is the link to the article so you can read more.

(NB: This is a short form post to try and get more car news going on Steemit.)

The Jaguar I-Pace TLDR

Unlike a regular concept this will actually be going into production. Here are the basic specs:

  • Compact SUV, 5 door design.
  • Suspension based on F-Type sports car.
  • 400hp via dual motors, 516ft-lb torque.
  • 0.29 CD factor.
  • 0-60 in 4 seconds.
  • 220 mile range .
  • 80% fast charge in 90 minutes.
  • no price announced yet, production due in 2018.

My Thoughts

It seems great from a technical standpoint although personally for me the looks (which are designed to maximise aerodynamics and reduce weight) are distinctly average and not very Jaguar like at all.

That also seems to extend to the interior which doesn't seem to have the usual Jaguar look with the rich leather and luxurious materials we normally expect (again a weight saving measure I suspect) - of course the relevance of all this depends on the price and we don't have any information on that yet.

What do you think? Have your say in the comments.

Also let me know if you would like to see more car related posts. It is one of the areas of news I have seen lacking on Steemit.
Maybe you are into cars like me and would like to start posting on this topic?

Nice. I love it since traded my old car for a crossover.

The specs are good and it certainly looks practical, I just wish they could have given it more striking looks. Also we don't know how much it will cost - I suspect it will be at least 100K dollars.

Maybe they can learn something from Nissan. :-)

I told my friends my car is a Continental car building in UK (Sunderland). :-) When I was doing research, I was looking the factory video. quite fun if you can spare a few minutes, here's one of them:

Thanks. I will take a look. The factory is quite close to me.

I'm sure it will:)

I need a new car. I'm pushin 180k miles on it. The wheels are about to fall off. : )

I hear you mate. Mine is not in great condition. Recently had to have the engine rebuilt but it is only 50K miles and a Subaru - they are supposed to last forever! Just my luck. So what do you have? 180, 000 is pretty impressive if it is still going!

I have an 2008 Prius. I think the batteries will die before anything. I keep it maintained and my oil change guy said I could easily get to 300k! He seen a bunch of them getting that long. We shall see.

Now that's a good looking car :)

I think it looks pretty generic. Like an average hatchback.

That's what i have but mine is old :)

There's nothing wrong with hatchbacks it's just when I think Jaguar I think of an old style saloon car or a convertible sports car. It feels like they are losing their spirit with this kind of design. If you didn't know it was a Jaguar you would never be able to tell just by looking at it.

I swear by nissan, my car is 12 years old and still running really well. Passes its MOT no problem

I can't tell the difference, mines a old Nissan Almera poor thing is knackered lol

I need a new car too to be honest. Can't really afford it though right now! The old one is really expensive to run too.

Another JINO (Jaguar In Name Only) to compete with the PINO Cayenne.

Yes I agree. It is a technical feat but it doesn't have the Jaguar soul.

@thecryptofiend, It still looks fancy - and jag IMHO :) (exterior wise)
I hope you won't mind if I chose Jeremy among all other TOP Gear Guys but I really like it when he says this - and your article just reminded me of it.

as for more related car posts (and maybe later - rewarded tags, too as I see a lot of those - some ignored as well)
Yes, please!

Lol no problem and actually their new show is starting on Amazon Prime this week if I remember correctly.

Here is the UK link for the Grand Tour.

@thecryptofiend really?
Oh wow! Thank you!!
clickin on it!

It might not work where you are based though - do you have Amazon for your location?

I clicked on it - it works Sir :)
I have to pay for it though.
So I thought, just wait for the CD, I also bought a few of Top Gear CDs
