The only solution is free market and capitalism. We need government to stay away with their regulations and organizations. It is not government interventions that has done anything for Africa the last..100 years. It's capital and free enterprise. Fucking Akon has done more for Africans than all help organizations has done.
People in Africa has to find their own way. What we have to do is the hell away, unless we're talking investments and collaboration.
Africans should stop signing stupid deals with European and American companies and instead, if they do (and they will) continue to have governments - make sure they educate their own smart people. Send the clever people to colleges in Europe and USA for free, and offer them hell of a lot of money to come back to Africa with their knowledge.
I guess the main reason for the exponential population growth is due to decreased death rate and still high fertility. Some of the huge amount of development aid and health care from Western countries may have helped decrease the mortality, which is isolated a good thing. But without a reduction in fertility as well its get explosive. I do believe we should stop development aid as you mention, and let they to their own thing. The human population seems to follow the Malthusian growth model, so I am not very optimistic.
