Africa is facing the biggest population boom the world has ever seen. Climate is important, but it is alway the demography, stupid!
Is it food for everyone (the wild life in Africa is already under treat, with huge increase in bushmeat)?
Are there jobs for everyone (we face more and more automatisation/ AI, needing less and less people in the workforce)?
What is going to happen to Europe (already huge surge in immigration from Africa)?
So, there will be interesting times a head (winter is coming or something).
Now we need Real leadership!

The world will change a little bit, but if you look at the things happening when people are getting a better life standard, you will see that there is nothing to worry about.
Hey, and if the european are continuing their welfare there will be so few people in europe in some generation that it will be more than enough room for some africans. :)
No but seriously, I don't see the problem. Africa alone could sustain more than 100 times as many people as there is living there today. The real problem I guess is if these guys are doing a social democratic, imperialistic model like the US. Then we will have som big trouble in some 50 years or so.
I agree, politicians need to work on the poverty and making jobs, But i heard that many of the african politicians are corrupted. The only way to development to everyone should be educated and stand against corruption and other deadly diseases. I ope god bless africa. :-)

The only solution is free market and capitalism. We need government to stay away with their regulations and organizations. It is not government interventions that has done anything for Africa the last..100 years. It's capital and free enterprise. Fucking Akon has done more for Africans than all help organizations has done.
People in Africa has to find their own way. What we have to do is the hell away, unless we're talking investments and collaboration.
Africans should stop signing stupid deals with European and American companies and instead, if they do (and they will) continue to have governments - make sure they educate their own smart people. Send the clever people to colleges in Europe and USA for free, and offer them hell of a lot of money to come back to Africa with their knowledge.
I guess the main reason for the exponential population growth is due to decreased death rate and still high fertility. Some of the huge amount of development aid and health care from Western countries may have helped decrease the mortality, which is isolated a good thing. But without a reduction in fertility as well its get explosive. I do believe we should stop development aid as you mention, and let they to their own thing. The human population seems to follow the Malthusian growth model, so I am not very optimistic.

Also the South America population and Asian population should show a similar graph. Have in mind as well that the graph is an unrealistic projection into the future.
Good point. But I do not think the population growth in SA and A population is comparable to Africa.
Hi, thanks for replying. I guess we would have to see a graph for the population growth in South America for example to see the similarities. May be the UN published it as well. I don't think Africans are doing something so special and unseen in other parts of the world to have so many newborns in Africa, added to the climate change, the growing lack of drinking water, the ever growing market of weapons, etc ..
Wow, I didn't realise how much of a boom there was in Africa.
This is really distressing.
I guess we need to try and urbanise Africa as much as we can so people can have access to jobs and a steady income rather than having unprotected sex/ having kids to support them in the future when they grown old.
