Sci-Fi Writers Will Now Help Predict Military Threats In France

If there is one thing that science fiction writers are good at, it's imagining the future. If you're anything like me, you love to wonder how life will be like in the future and where technological evolution will take us.

That's why I love watching all sorts of sci-fi movies and shows, where one can get a feel from the visuals how the future could be. Also, I firmly believe that the science fiction of today is the reality of tomorrow.

This has been proven time and again and I see no reason why this can't continue happening, unless something is suggested that breaks the laws of physics, that is. Anyways, science fiction writers have a knack for detailed imagination of the future and every aspect of human life possible in it.

Therefore it seems quite right that France is hiring them to predict future military threats based on the technological progress that can happen and also helping predict futuristic technologies that they might need to develop.

Writers To The Rescue

France's Defence Innovation Agency (DIA), which was formed to develop and research futuristic military technologies, is taking the help of science fiction writers to predict the kind of threats they might face and also how to counter them with their own technology.

Different militaries of the world are increasingly developing more and more futuristic technologies that are leaps and bounds more advanced than anything the mainstream knows about. In some cases, there are technologies in development that the common person couldn't even have imagined.

This is where the science fiction writers come in and can be of help. They do this for a living, imaginging all sorts of future scenarios and technologies that can be prevelant. They can do this both for a utopian world as well as a dystopian world.

For their work with DIA, they can sure use their dystopian world ideas and help develop research in that regards. The DIA plans to establish a team of four to five sci-fi writers as well as futurologists and will reportedly be called "red team".

Only time will tell how effective this interesting plan of theirs is, but it sure sounds a logical one. In any case, at least they will be better prepared for a number of potentially dangerous situations in the future.

Thanks!

That is good news for sci-fi fans like myself. Why is that good news? I love speculative Sci-Fi war stories like those of Drake and others, getting Five writers together in one room we are to have some amazing stories come out of the writers "Jam Session's", or what ever writers call it when getting together and bring Ideas out to each other. The French Government Defense Department may win, but we the readers are really going to win I think.

Yeah, it's really good for the lovers of sci-fi. The French government will sure get a lot of insight on how things could evolve.
