RE: Trump Says Gun Problem is Mental Illness, Revokes Mental Illness Gun Law
sirstacksalot, can you say flip flopping? Because that is exactly what Davidpakman is pointing out in this story. At a minimum you must admit that Trump is switching his position to appease the will of the current mob mentality. If Trump was serious and wanted to make real change he would have done something after making the repeal instead of waiting for the opportune time to change his position. Honestly he is not better than Hillary. She would do the same thing and she would play to the crowd. Playing to the mob is not a solid political stance to lead a democratic country. Just look at South Africa, their Trump like president just stepped down because the people were tired of his attitude in running the country and the level of corruption he brought. Trump is very much in a similar boat if not the same sinking ship, regardless of what you think of his presidency.
@rsc227. David is certainly trying to play this as a flip-flop on President Trump's part, but what he is really doing is displaying his love for McCarthyism for the entire world to see.
First off, David (and you) complain that President DJT repealed the law without offering an alternative or offering up something in its place. I submit to you that repealing a bad law (which it was according to even the ACLU) and thus allowing us to return to the state prior to the passage of the bad law IS the alternative..for now. No law on a subject is infinitely better than a bad law. (I've already explained above how the law is bad, so I'll try not to repeat myself).
Secondly, David repeatedly uses the word "SUSPECTED" (0:31, 1:15) when referring to people on the SSA disorder list. So, unless you are are a closet admirer of Senator Joseph McCarthy and his tactics of blacklisting people because of their "SUSPECTED" ties to communism, you should be appalled (like the ACLU was) that a law could be passed (by Obama) that could obliterate a person's Constitutional Rights because of a "SUSPECTED" condition.
Finally, I am not very impressed in yours, or David's, complaint that our great President DJT is somehow playing to the crowd just to get their approval. This has been a hallmark of politics since Adam and Eve were shown the exit to the Garden of Eden and left to fend for themselves. I guess you didn't consider pandering and promise breaking an issue during the disastrous Obama regime.
