Grenfell Tower - Government Failure
Last night another tragedy occurred in London. I spent most of the night spreading the fact that the Grenfell Action Group has been warning about the severe fire danger in the housing block since 2013.
There we many knee-jerk Americans that were raising cries of "Terroism" on Twitter (because that's what the MSM has trained us to do). I spent 4 hours talking to these people and explaining that the UK government could have stopped this and they chose not to.
"Well, it's really on KCTMO then, not the UK government..." I heard many times after I shared the many links to the Grenfell Action Group complaints.
Kind of, however, KCTMO is only a property managment organization and while they are a portion of the problem, Grenfell Action Group was trying to reach the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea who actually owns the property.
The UK government is rife with incompetence and when it comes to light they blame it on "not enough laws". While this is true in the Grenfell Tower fire, the fire safety laws that need to be enforced have been proposed by concerned experts and ignored by UK government.
There is blood on the hands of the UK government from Grenfell Tower. If you follow this link you will get a list of all the times Grenfell Action Group tried to bring light to this dire situation.

My heart goes out to those that I heard screaming for help all night, those that we there in person watching this horror, those that have died, those that have been injured by a government that was supposed to protect them.
My thoughts are with you all.
I'm sad to hear you and yours are in and near this trauma. It is unconscionable to ignore human risk and unforgivable to refuse taking responsibility.
I am not near London, but I do have quite a few friends there. One of which lives a few blocks away from Grenfell Tower. It has been a horror to watch what has been happening. The most terrifying thing is there are numerous housing blocks that are in the same state that Genfell Tower was in before the fire, these fires will continue.

I might should define my version of "in" ... you and yours are in it, when you say
Then I certainly see you in it, even if you only heard from afar and even if your friend was nearby, you are "in it" as in you are going through it also. And you and your whole country are going to go through a recovery process.
Unfortunately, y'all have more to recover from, and then this.
I'm glad you're looking at logical reasons behind the incident. Some will simply sit and say something along the lines of, "life is just so unfair." Etc. Sigh.

The issue is about government corruption, centralization, power/control, and ultimate complacency and general failure. The elected officials do not really have any specialized knowledge (maybe some do but overall it is greatly lacking), are susceptible to greed and corruption, and they spend their time arguing (excuse me, debating) about rules that go into a book of which most of the officials do not really understand. They also sound like school children when they engage in this process.
Let's face it, we need a new government architecture.
I honestly think governments should be formed on a distributed system where scientists, doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, and anybody else can participate. Sure, there would be many clusters of these decentralized 'states' and the sovereignty of them would play out and cause other issues... but those are issues for our great grandchildren.
Right now we are faced with a corrupt, incompetent, powerful, centralized, complacent, lazy government that has all the control and is out of control.
