How to survive a run over, explained by a specialist in dangerous film scenes

You start crossing a street believing that no cars are approaching, and suddenly you hear it ... A car is heading directly towards you, its tires squeaking as the driver steps on the brakes with all his strength. You have less than a second to react and save your life. This is what you should do.

Before explaining it, you must understand that your chance of survival to be run over depends in large part on the speed at which the car moved. If it goes very fast (at 70 kilometers per hour or more) you will not have time to react, and the force of the impact will be very strong so that the bone structure of a human being can emerge unharmed. That said, there's nothing wrong with trying to dodge a car at full speed that is heading towards you.

The trick consists of four steps: lift, jump, protect and roll. The most important thing, according to Tammie Baird, specialist of stunts and action sequences in movies, is to try to get on the bonnet of the car. Otherwise, you will bounce off the bumper and you will be fired on the road, where you will land very hard on the asphalt and possibly crush you. So, what you should do is lift the leg closest to the car so that it does not have any weight on it. This will allow you to jump on the car, instead of being shot down, says Baird.

Once you have your leg up, it's time to jump. Impulse with your other leg so that your back and hip touch the hood of the car first of all. As you roll over the hood, lift your arms and your hands to protect your head. Try to extend yourself by hitting the hood to reduce the force of the impact.

After, it's time for you to roll. You must be prepared so that the impulse of the car makes you roll by the windshield and by all the superior part of the car, or to roll of return by the hood until the highway because the car stopped. Whatever direction you take, never stop protecting your head. In general, always remember: lift, jump, protect and roll.

Once you stop moving, get up immediately if you can. You should not stay on the road because you run the risk of getting hit again. Ask the driver to stay exactly where you are (remember to record your license plate and take pictures of the car), call the police and report the incident, and then go immediately to the nearest hospital. Just because you do not feel any pain right away does not mean you're not hurt. Do not let the adrenaline of the moment fool you. Get examined by a doctor.
