Is Social Media and the Internet a Wasteland for Businesses?

New businesses in the 1980s had a problem with growth, by the time that the computers and internet were out it was much easier for entrepreneurs.

In today's modern age we find social media being the biggest outlet for entrepreneurs with small businesses. But has social media become a wasteland? So much of it is used to publicize businesses. Yet how much is really seen? The media is packed with information both true and false. There are so many companies that have small businesses working under them, such as Amazon, Etsy, eBay. Small businesses seem to still go under, or barely staying afloat.

So how does a small business get out there for the public to find? With so many individuals in business, so many ideas and new approaches, how do newcomers find opportunities in which to grow?

When looking on the internet for advice on how to grow your business the same common practices are always listed. The advice given is to have a company website, and go on social media. But in this age of modern technology very few business owners are unfamiliar with social media, and have no problem creating a websit.

The problem most businesses are finding, is how do the owners get customers shopping on social media and on the internet, to actually find products sold by their business? How do they get their products out there to be found in the Social Media Wasteland?

We quiet often hear "Welcome to the age of Technology", but how well does technology do for the small entrepreneur who is trying to open and run a small business?

In the world of sales, everything is a gimmick or has a gimmick. But in the world of social media and the internet what gimmick makes things easier for the small business owner? Where does the small business owner or entrepreneur go once they've opened up to social media, and the internet. New ideas and growth patterns are desperately needed, for small businesses to continue. In the meanwhile it seems we are doomed to wait for the next big thing.
