Disputes around artificial intelligence are growing ever stronger. Today, their participants can be divided into two conditional camps: those who are afraid of AI, and those who consider it just another tool for improving a person's life. This time, the creator of the humanoid robot Sophia David Hanson expressed his attitude to the problem.

The engineer hopes that in the end, people will receive a benevolent, useful and effective AI that can solve a lot of problems. The only caveat is that the majority of the population will not survive until this moment, because already now humanity has put itself in a difficult situation because of problems with ecology, wars and clean water.

However, according to Hanson, a good and powerful AI is the ideal scenario. There are chances that on the way to this ideal of development are rolled in the wrong direction. The scientist says that in the next 100 years various catastrophic scenarios are possible, and some of them may be blamed for AI, while some it will avoid. According to this statement Hanson can be attributed to moderate supporters of artificial intelligence. He believes in AI, but he understands that everything depends on people; from where they will direct the development.

According to the scientist, the main danger lies in the fact that scientists, being today in rapid technological haste (in the realm of AI state and private companies are now investing billions of dollars), they can ignore the prime necessity to make a super-intelligent artificial essence good. As an example of a man's thoughtless attitude to what he creates, the scientist called climate change, which is the result of irresponsible activities of mankind.

It is interesting that Hansson was asked about Sofia in the course of the conversation. Previously, she was accused of being an inferior AI, that she did not have freedom of thought. The inventor was asked to place Sofia on a scale of 1 to 100, where 1 - useless electronic devices, and 100 - an ideal, powerful, kind and effective AI. Hanson gave Sofia 8 points, saying that now she resembles a child. At the same time, he unexpectedly appropriated a man only 1 point more. Thus, Hanson believes that the AI of the future will be at least 11 times intellectually more powerful than a person.
