PSA: Hardfork 16 Temporarily Delayed

in #news8 years ago

The proposed hardfork 16 has been postponed as further coding and testing is needed to ensure it's stability before it's rolled out across the witness servers that host the STEEMchain.

Initially the plan was to have today, November 16th 2016 the day where all witnesses in agreeance with the proposed changes were to upgrade their software but as of an announcement on the official Steem github from @mvandeburg ( STEEM developer)

(screencap taken from the STEEM github)

What this means is that we're at the very least 8 days or more from seeing hardfork 16 become public and put into action on the STEEM network. Personally I support hardfork 16 and will be rolling it out onto my witness server as soon as a stable version is made available.

For more information in the changes coming in 0.0.16 check out the article linked below:

Proposed Changes to STEEM Economy

This is a public service message to let STEEM users as well as my fellow witnesses know that we will not be switching to STEEM version 0.0.16 today as initially intended.

I told my bosses to delay opening our big project in order to close 1 exhaust port. See how that went for me?

You are one of my fave characters on here Vader. I'm glad you stuck around man.

You play your username perfectly. We need more folks like you here. :)

Awesome, thank you.

No problem bola. :)

Thank you! we need sound money! low inflation & shorter vesting period will save Steem from collapse.

I think it's a good proposed hard fork as well. The inflation we currently have is sort of crazy. :P

Also this 2years vesting period is killing Steem system. To revitalize steem, we should eliminate it completely. If you are interested about my economic theory, chat me.(brucelee)

Good to know. I am really curious on seeing the effects on the Steem price of this hardfork. I guess patience is the key ;)

My guess is that 3-4 months after it's implemented you're going to see some pretty intense selling from those getting out. Hopefully after that the market is able to find a price that reflects the massive cut in inflation.

That's my guess too but some are telling me I am not necessarily correct.

Smart money won't be buying the powerdowns but waiting for the market to tank to increase the amount of STEEM they can purchase with their dollar.

I may be wrong.. Maybe some crazy whale out there will be trying to keep the price the same as you see a bunch of people race to dump... But I imagine we're going to see "blood in the streets" before we see a price rise after hardfork 16

Thank you, I already knew this, but I will resteem to spread the word.

Thank you kooshikoo.

I hadn't seen official word posted about this yet so figured it was best to let people know.

thank you and resteemed.

Thank you for helping me spread the word deanliu. Much appreciated.

thank you. I was wondering about this

Thank you for letting us know.

Cheers whatsup. I just found out myself else I'd shared the news sooner. :)

Re-Steemed, obviously. I suspected as much myself, but it's good to let everyone know. :)

Yeah.. I had been keeping an eye on github an watching the progress.. The code simply isn't ready to be implemented yet. Good on them though for realizing this and not pushing it anyways.
