Marijuana Now Legal in Canada!

( A picture of one of my plants from a few years back, unknown indica genetics )The day has finally come in Canada where smokers of cannabis will no longer be frowned upon as criminals for medicating themselves with a naturally sourced herb. As an avid pot user for over the past decade and a half a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing that I can now walk down the street with a joint in my pocket and not have to worry about the local police bullying or incarcerating me for my habit.

The End of Pot Prohibition
Marijuana was legal in Canada the early 1900's I believe but was then criminalized around the 1920's... But as of today (October 17th, 2018) it is now legal to possess and smoke marijuana in Canada once again. While in most provinces you can't just walk around willy-nilly smoking dope in public places without harsh fines the very fact that it's now legal to possess this miraculous plant for personal medical or recreational use without fear of lengthy jail sentences or a criminal record is nothing short of amazing.
Our prime minister Trudeau is a fucking gong show.. But at least he managed to pull this one off and for that I tip my hat to the man, even if I feel he's a disgrace of a country leader otherwise.

With the legalization of pot the country will likely see a huge revenue from taxes and will likely see a boom of industry with a new multi million or billion dollar market being made on top of legalization. I know personally I've been buying pot for years online but look forward to being able to go to a legal local shop in order to try out new varieties to help combat some of the physical and mental health issues I face on a day to day basis.
While Marijuana may not be for everyone I know speaking from personal experience many strains such as Jack Herer or OG Kush are amazing medicines for mental well being and pain. Looking forward to see how legalization effects the country and it's people.
Can't imagine the effect will be negative at all, in fact I believe we'll see a drop in crime rates as well as a greater happiness among our citizens!

Cannabis is now legal...but the number you have there in the 2016 pic is illegal. What a paradox. It is legalisation, but it's not the end of prohibition unfortunately.
No offence, but how can you expect no negative effects and reduction in crime when new crimes have been introduced; more crimes have been introduced than pardoned actually. Amnesty for tiny possession amounts doesn't mean anything when the police can warrantless search you or your house or decide to arrest you for public intoxication.
Don't forget drivers who get arrested for intoxication by a faulty test that only detects if they're a cannabis user in general. People who have pioneered this industry are having their legitimate businesses closed and are facing life sentences in prison. Patients who need affordable and reliable access to large quantities of high-quality, organic cannabis products have to choose between staying alive or life sentences in prison.
Next stop, consuming poison ivy or sprinkling some over your salad. Natural herb and all right?

That is great news for Canada. Used in moderation marijuana is a highly beneficial herb for many conditions and I don't know of anyone who has died of an overdose. That is a smart move 😁

Yeah, as an avid pot user for a decade and a half I can't say it's done much harm to me... Minus the whole stunting parts of my brain development.. But that just makes me KLYE... :P
Have you heard about a breed / type called "Idukki Gold" ? - just curious as this is hyped as a big thing in India

Unless you live in Quebec which is still on the bandwagon of trying to collect revenue from anyone growing pot, or smoking it anywhere besides your home, or choosing what company you want to buy from. Still a great day, but Quebec is a piece of shit who are still making rules based off fear and not facts.
And Ontario allowing online purchases only? WTF - too many rules still, just apply whatever rules we currently have for grapes. Or tomatoes. Enough already... it's legal for like 12 hours and I'm already bitching :)

Manitoba here.. Which has some of the worst provincial laws on the pot sadly.. Still can't legally grow ffs...
