Passengers Reimbursed

In an attempt to further ease the backlash that is starting to ensue, United Airlines has just announced that they will reimburse all passengers for the price of their tickets that were aboard flight 3411 the date of "the incident".

If you are not aware,"The Incident" was one where a 69 year old Chinese Doctor was forcibly removed from the airplane after refusing to give up his seat citing his "patients needing to be treated."

What followed has made national headlines and left United scrambling in damage control mode, trying to prevent customers from leaving the airline in mass exodus.

The flight was not actually overbooked but instead sold out.

It was also updated earlier today that the flight was not in fact overbooked as was initially reported. The flight was sold out but not overbooked.

There were 4 United employees that had been labeled as "must fly" by the company and in order to accommodate for this, 4 paying customers needed to be removed.

The first 3 reluctantly agreed to leave the plane when told they didn't have much choice while the 4th made national headlines when he refused to get off the plane.

What ensued can be seen and read about here:

The other passengers were forced to wait for over 3 hours before the plane eventually took off. For the emotional trauma that the passengers went through United has decided to reimburse all of them the price of their tickets.

I would not be surprised if some other perks are thrown in as well before it is all said and done.

The 69 year old man has retained legal council.

The man who was forcibly removed from the plane has now sought legal council from two different law firms and has also hired a PR firm to represent him.

He also filed documents in a Chicago court today to obtain information from the airline regarding the incident. These moves would likely indicate that he plans on suing United and possibly the city of Chicago for how things were handled.

This story is still developing. Will keep you updated as it unfolds...

Good for the doc. I would've done the exact same thing! I hope he wins!

I am sure he will win something. The airline will probably try to settle for a rather large amount I am sure.

Then good for him. I am on his side. He should not let people make a fool of him...these big companies think that money can buy everything...what about the embarressment factor and the emotional knock he had to take for absolutely no reason at all?

Great point, and for that he is going to be paid very very well... I mean his name and face have been all over the news worldwide for days... I mean his face was bloody and his shirt was pulled up exposing his belly, talk about embarrassing... He is going to ask for a ton I bet.

I heard they removed the video??? He should make them pay!

Yes I think that was part of the request with the Chicago court. The video they showed today on tv of the event had his face blurred out now... much different than the first couple of days.

Your article is very helpful! Thank you!

Glad it could help!

what if this is just manipulated info? I read BBerg and they are digging old skeleton on that Chinese doc's closet - dug actually ..

anyway - they caused that Chinese doc trauma. I saw the video - they treated him like an animal - it was inhuman - lawsuit is reasonable

Yep, I agree! And honestly whatever is in his closet is not really relevant to what happened on that plane... when the police used excessive force they had no idea he had a shady past...

@jrcornel exactly - it was too much he was bleeding - brutality -tsk tsk

Yep... he is going to fly for free for the rest of his life now and be a very very wealthy man. :)

@jrcornel ah .. the prize .. haha

thanks for updating us!

You got it!

Excellent post dear friend @jrcornel, this was news for me, I had not heard it, thank you very much for the information

You got it! You should check out the link in this post as well to really get a full understanding of what is going on. Thanks for stopping by!

Excellent suggestion, so I will thank you very much

Hopefully this will encourage some change in the airline industry. It would be nice to go back to being a customer. I'm tired of the current Airline paradigm where passengers are seen a supplicants with no rights, paying for the divine favor of rapid transport.

Haha well said. I have a feeling it might...
