Trump Approves Military Mission to 'Secure' Syria's Oil

As has been documented recently, and as I detailed in my most recent post on Syria, the US is openly seizing and occupying eastern Syrian oil fields - in order to steal and smuggle out the oil. This is a violation of the government's own sanctions against Syria as well as a violation of both US and international law.

However, according to the AP reporting on November 5th, Donald Trump has now just officially approved an "expanded military mission to secure an expanse of oil fields across eastern Syria." Interesting that the president waited until after this new operation began to officially approve the pillaging of Syria's oil! Though in reality it isn't new, but rather an expansion of what has already been taking place for years throughout the US occupation of northeastern Syria.

Meanwhile, US officials have rightly pointed out that this new move raises "a number of difficult legal questions about whether U.S. troops can launch strikes against Syrian, Russian or other forces if they threaten the oil."

The decision, coming after a meeting Friday between Trump and his defense leaders, locks hundreds of U.S. troops into a more complicated presence in Syria, despite the president’s vow to get America out of the war. Under the new plan, troops would protect a large swath of land controlled by Syrian Kurdish fighters that stretches nearly 90 miles (150 kilometers) from Deir el-Zour to al-Hassakeh, but its exact size is still being determined.

The president had already recently expressed interest in working with Exxon Mobile or another Big Oil company to openly take Syria's oil, and now it looks as though he has made his voiced plan an official military operation.

Over the past several weeks, the pretense under which new waves of military troops and convoys are being sent into Syria to carry out this task of 'securing' the oil fields has been in part to defeat remaining ISIS terrorist presence there. This is of course the same ISIS which the president claimed on numerous occasions that the US military had effectively defeated 100%, several months ago back when he declared a withdrawal of US troops from the region. What they have now been claiming is that this withdrawal which was only ever a partial withdrawal has now been completely reversed in the name of fighting a terrorist group that these same forces already long ago completely eliminated from Syria, and they may or may not actually expect the masses to buy this complete absurdity!

Of course the reality of the situation is that this reversal and new surge of US occupation forces including many tanks is to secure Syria's oil for western Big Oil cartels and the profit of the Military Industrial Complex. This operation of pillaging Syria's oil for profit has now been made official, by the commander in chief of the armed forces himself.

Sen. Tim Kaine, a Virginia Democrat, spoke out against this new misguided military mission, which is really not new at all, but only newly official.

“Risking the lives of our troops to guard oil rigs in eastern Syria is not only reckless, it’s not legally authorized,” Kaine told The Associated Press. “President Trump betrayed our Kurdish allies that have fought alongside American soldiers in the fight to secure a future without ISIS - and instead moved our troops to protect oil rigs.”

Excellent points indeed; but neither the president along with all those in head positions of the military, nor the rest of the politicians and media talking heads, nor the greedy corporations of which all these men of power serve as mere puppets have any desire to allow the law or technical legal authorizations to get in the way of their geopolitical agendas or immense profits from pillaging Syria's natural resources.

And yes, it is both illegal and a war crime, as a recent Washington Post piece pointed out, entitled Trump keeps talking about ‘keeping’ Middle East oil. That would be illegal. Yes, yes it would, but the president just officially authorized it anyway. And no, it doesn't make Trump any more of an evil president than all the other puppets before him, it just makes him the next puppet doing the bidding of his puppet masters.

There are of course many other goals and reasons for US presence in Syria besides looting their oil; and that includes namely destabilizing the country in order to weaken a strong enemy of Israel with the intention of eventually toppling the Damascus government to be replaced by a puppet leader willing to bow to Zionist agendas, weakening and eventual toppling of Iran also for the benefit of Israel, and to ultimately establish complete control over the region by destabilizing any country and toppling any government which stands in the way of the US imperial war machine and the Zionist Greater Israel Project. Looting Syria's oil is just one way to accomplish these ultimate goals, none of which have anything to do with fighting terrorism, while at the same time enriching the occupiers.

There should be absolutely no doubt as to what exactly US troops are doing in Syria right now, and it sure as hell isn't fighting ISIS terrorists! They are there to 'protect' Syria's oil fields from being taken by and put back under control of Syrian forces, and that is what is rightly called an occupation. The US occupation forces are simply 'securing' Syria's oil from Syria - and if that sounds insane, it's because it is.

Looking at the recent events in Syria, I have to wonder if the US is possibly preparing for open war against Syria, since their 8-year long proxy war has been a miserable failure at toppling the Assad government? No doubt if SAA (Syrian Arab Army) forces attempt to take back control of their own oil fields now under control of US troops, the US military would act in 'self defense' in order to defend their occupation of Syria's oil. And such a direct confrontation could well set off a series of events that propels the US into a more open and direct war against Syria. Or are they just that stupid and inept that they don't realize their actions are setting the stage for such a direct conflict?

Regardless, whatever happens in the future, at least now the world can see just exactly what the US military presence in Syria is all about - occupation and theft, not 'spreading freedom and democracy' or 'fighting terror'. Sadly, it appears that US officials no longer care about their image or the image of the US military in the eyes of the world - they are going to serve their masters as the good little puppets they are no matter how badly it makes them look or how blatantly absurd their lies and contradictions have become.
