It is a bit pathetic, but I guess their grounds are shaking... Steemit is the new Facebook and logicaly, they don’t want their users to discover that just yet. But still pathetic of them. What will happen with Steemit now? Like the numbers say, it will continue to grow and grow and then grow some more...
I don't really think it'll have much of an effect on content creators here who don't solely discuss cryptocurrencies (and even they should be unaffected unless they're trying to sell in the post). If I share a post from my steemit account to my fb-even if I pay to make it a ad-it's still not a post trying to sell or advertise any currency-it's a post about art or cats.

The timing seems to indicate that this is the cause behind the policy rather than fear of competition. Not to say that's not a secondary factor though.
I am not sure but in my opinion this ban is due to increase in the Malware attacks in the Crypto world. And i think it will not effect that much to Steemit because in my opinion Steemit promotion is going in the form of people in the more extent and less in digital extent. Hope everything will move beneficially.

It seems like a desperation movement.
