Origin review

If you say youtube, . . . . . many people still think about shitty videos with phones holded upside down, to grainy uploads and a bad sound quality.

Others might think of playlists filled with home video, old movies, tutorials, talkshows, vlogs, B-grade music video’s, news, music channels and other low quality, ‘kind of amateur’ uploads.

What you are not thinking about is a very #binge-able #science #fiction series.

A series which has episodes directed and produced by one of hollywoods A list directors, Paul W.S. Anderson.

Origin is such a series, it’s a so called #YouTube Originals

The tagline “A group of strangers struggle for survival aboard a spaceship heading to a distant planet” did not really ‘spoke’ or intrigued me very much.

But i was more then pleasantly surprised, after i started watching.

(And please don’t worry, beside this screenshot, i won’t be revealing too much info, or giving spoilers)

Origin is recently released

This means that it’s only available on the youtube premium service (formerly known as youtube red)

The first season has ten 40+ minute episodes. The show has a current IMDB rating of 7.2 out of 10. The quality of the show is much better then the average scyfy show, that we binge so often, and personally i am also enjoying the soundtrack with it’s returning theme’s and motives.

Each of the episodes zooms into one of the characters and so they slowly expands the story forward, it’s a classical technique used also in series like Lost.

The acting is quite decent, and some of the faces might even be very familiar to some.

Even though most of the actors involved have a decent hollywood track record, there aren’t any famous A list actors involved with the show. Personally i think this was a great decision by the production team.

Fun fact about a couple of these actors, Tom Felton and Natalia Tena, both appeared in the Harry Potter movies. Felton as Draco Malfoy, Tena as Nymphadora Tonks, and we have another main character that some might recognize from Game of Thrones.

Furthermore i am not revealing much more, because i would hate to spoil your fun & surprise while watching.

If you like science fiction, thrillers and binging ... this series is a must see.
