Twitter Bans 300,000 Accounts Linked to Terrorism
In the wake of terrorist organisation using Twitter to communicate their plans and strategies. Governments have pressurized the social media networking sites to ban accounts that promote terrorism and violence.
In order to stop these terrorism activities Twitter have enhanced its verification process to identify these accounts. Beginning from this year Twitter has suspended around 300,000 accounts aiding terrorism and violence. 95% of these accounts were removed through their new and improved system.
Total Twitter users has reached 328 million with around 68 million month to month active users only from the United States alone.
Twitter has been following Facebook and YouTube in using automation tools (known as bots) that can easily detect troublesome activities in a matter of moments. Facebook has suspected 7500 users posting troublesome posts and videos.
The organization revealed that around 75% of the suspended accounts this year were suspected before a single tweet was sent and 935897 records have been blocked since 2015.
Twitter said in an announcement "Our spam tools are getting speedier, more effective and more effective to bring down accounts that violate our policy."
