Trust has to be earned. It cannot be a gift. And normally, it isn't gained in a short period of time. Anyone that engages in falsehood will simply not be trusted.
And trust is a precious attribute that we all should try to gain. Here on Steemit, it is the only way.

That's a great point. I think respect is assumed by the mainstream media, which lead to them ultimately losing the respect they once had. They haven't had to earn respect in a long time and they may not be able to recover with the rise of YouTube reporters and news analysts.
