Google Gags Employee Whistleblowers, Even From Internal Communication With Coworkers.
Google is changing its motto from "don't be evil" to "loose lips sink ships" according to recent court filings by an employed project manager.
They even have their own version of the SS, the "Google Global Investigation Team". These individuals rat out any suspected employees violating their Orwellian policies according to court records. These policies basically state that employees cannot communicate at all regarding what they are working on or any potential safety hazards to staff or the public.

I use google a lot and would like to imagine that they keep to their motto, obviously my delusion has just been shattered. You simply do not have these type of policies as preventative measure. This is the type of thing that is in place when you have some serious secrets you do not want getting out.
"good deeds are done in the light"
Thanks for reading!
I know it's hard to get away from google completely. They control many parts of the internet. But, I just started using this other search engine called Ecosia.

Apparently, every time you make a search with it, money goes towards planting trees around the world (80% of their profits they claim). There is a little counter in the top corner after installing the extension in chrome (a google product) which tells you how many trees you've helped plant from your searches.
Google is our one true supreme overlord, gag orders makes that very scary for me. The tree things sounds cool, I bet they are a "google search partner" and that is where the "profits" are coming from. Not sure how much work you have done in adwords but that makes sense to me.

There are lots of good alternatives now:
Pitfalls: avoid startpage unless you really want to see google search results. Avoid duckduckgo, unless you think their support of cloudflare (a tor adversary) is a good thing. DDG is also partnered with yahoo/verizon (very privacy-hostile conglomerate).
Wow, you seem to know your stuff. Followed.
