State Troopers and NASA prepare for 400 Xs more people than Woodstock!

The End Is Nigh! Officials are preparing for a "Nightmare Disaster", "Chaos", and "Unprecedented Uncertainty" in the USA.

There's always an Apocalypse around the corner, isn't there?!

Unless you've been under a rock lately, you've probably heard about the solar eclipse that's happening in August. If you can, get to where you can view it 100%. 90% is okaay but since this only comes around ever few hundred years, if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Party like it's 2017!

Facts-

Don't look directly at it!

Cell service could be spotty or disrupted

If you're traveling to watch it, prepare and make your reservations in advance- hotels are selling out and traffic will be a nightmare

Stars will appear

Birds will become confused and start singing their night songs

Towns along the path of totality are hosting Eclipse Parties. I know one in Oregon is having a three day event!

On Monday, Aug. 21, the moon will slip between the Earth and Sun causing a 70-mile-wide shadow that will “turn daylight into twilight" and cause the temperature drop rapidly.

The coast-to-coast “Great American Eclipse" is the first of its kind seen in 99 years and is being called “the event of the century.”

Parts of Africa, Europe and South America will be able to see the eclipse, along with those in the path in the United States. The last time a total eclipse graced viewers in the United States was Feb. 26, 1979, and it was in a limited geographic area.

The solar eclipse will arc along a 3,000-mile path from the Oregon Pacific coast to the shore of South Carolina. The “path of totality” includes Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Those in the path of totality will witness the moon completely blocking the sun. Viewers outside of the path will only see a partial eclipse.
Handy Driving Time Guide:

The last time a total solar eclipse made its way across America was 1,581 years ago - July 29, 436.

Good article, thanks.
Seems like there will be a lot of people that want to see this. I don't blame them.
It's not my first priority, I've seen partials; it's cool and it would be cool to see the total; but it's not real ecologically sound; 10 million people NEED to see this? hum

Good info babe. Again great research. Glad your back posting with avengence.
Steem on babe.

Full steem ahead :)

That sucker is gonna cross the 33rd parallel!

Quite anciently mysterious, isn't it?

Oh, yes, humans do tend to get their knickers in an uproar over celestial events!
The religious cacophony over the blood-moon was hysterical:)

I'm still in shock over December 2012... I must admit tho... I did make a few bucks from it from my legit survival website, lol!

I'm a fan of Rorty and pragmatism:D

Awesome! I've only recently been turned on to Rorty, but I must say I am his newest stalker-er- fan ;)

Not to mention the Y2K bug :)

I was working at CNN during Y2K, and we had experts come in for mandatory meetings to tell us how to prepare in silence without alarming the public! The Gov't believed it was going to destroy civilization, but at CNN, well- you know- the news must go on. lol

so it will be complete darkness???

If you are in the 100% path of darkness, yes. For up to 3 minutes depending on position. And the temp will drop.
Outside of it you can see on the diagram it will be less and less shadowed.

Thanks for sharing..

I'm in oregon and they are predicting 1 million tourists for the eclipse.

Luckily I won't have to go far.

Wow. That's insane.

This (solar eclipse), they (everyone) said happened in Nigeria last year but i didn't see anything though :)

No? Interesting. Was it perhaps a lunar eclipse?

That i am not sure of :)

We are within a 2 hour drive of the main path here in KY. Looking forward to this!

Sweet, yea, I'm going to OR for the main path. The festivals and events that are spring up are insane! Websites are popping up so fast that nothing is even clickable on them yet, lol

Too bad I'm in Southern California. Won't be able to see the full eclipse, but I guess partial will do.

I live in the 90% path, but I'm going to travel to totality ;)
