Nadia Murad and Dennis Mukweji received Nobel in peace
Iraqi Kurdish human rights activist Nadia Murad and Congo's doctor Dennis Mukwezi received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018. Today's Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday announced their names.
The Nobel Committee has said that Nadia Murad and Denis Mukwajy were given this award for contributing to the fight against sexual violence during wartime and armed struggle.
Dennis Mukwezi spent a great time in his life to helping victims of sexual violence in the Congo Republic. She has treated thousands of patients suffering from sexual abuse.
On the other hand, Yadidi Nadia Murad, who lived with the family in the northern small village of Koch in Iraq, In 2014, the Islamic militant group (IS) entered into the village. One day all the villagers were put into a school in the face of arms. The men were made standout outside the school separately. After this, all the men were killed by Nadia's six brothers. After killing men, the IS militants took Nadia and other women to a bus at Mosul. Nadia was sold as a sex slave. She escaped after being sexually assaulted for a few days.
Nadia Murad was a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations after escaping from IS. He is working with human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, the Yazidi women captured by IS militants and those who have escaped.
The Nobel Committee has said that Nadia has shown great courage in speaking to others even after suffering so much trouble.
