Una excursión hacia lo desconocido: Stonehenge
Yo, que vengo de una ciudad casi desértica, estaba hipnotizada observando las colinas verdes que se extendían a ambos lados de la carretera.
Y a pesar de que cada viaje en bus o auto, para mí es como una canción de cuna, en ese momento no hubo manera de que el sueño le ganara al paisaje.
La excursión, que había comenzado temprano, en la mañana, había iniciado su recorrido con un sol radiante.
Pero Inglaterra me enseñó que allí puede llover 20 veces de manera separada en un mismo día. Y esa no fue la excepción.
Así que, pasado el mediodía, las nubes habían cubierto el cielo de un blanco que encandilaba, y una fina lluvia se había apoderado del aire.
Para mí, esto no era un problema, porque amo mucho la lluvia y el frío.
Pero cuando me percaté del lugar al que nos dirigíamos, entendí que ese tiempo podría generar algún tipo de incomodidad.
Pues bien, lo primero que ocurrió es que cuando bajamos del autobús, necesitaba con urgencia ir a un baño, así que, como es esperable, eso hice.
Caminé muy rápido, pero el viento empezó a acelerarse conmigo, volteando mi paraguas y rompiendo algunas de sus partes.
Mientras defendía a mi elemento protector del soplo de aire, una parte metálica rasgó la piel de mi pulgar derecho, pero a pesar de que dolió mucho, seguí adelante, con el objetivo de unirme a las personas con quienes había iniciado tal travesía (aunque no conocía a nadie).
Ni bien llegamos al transporte, mi corazón se empezó a acelerar, porque vería un monumento prehistórico y misterioso.
Stonehenge se encuentra en Wiltshire, cerca de Amesbury, en Reino Unido. Se trata de un conjunto de rocas sedimentarias e ígneas que se distribuyen de manera circular o de herradura.
El conjunto está rodeado por un foso circular que mide alrededor de 104 m de diámetro. En su interior, hay 56 fosas conocidas como los “agujeros de Aubrey”. El bancal y el foso están cortados por “la Avenida”, que es un camino procesional de 23 metros de ancho y 3 kilómetros de longitud.
Luego se puede ver la “Piedra del Sacrificio”, y frente a ella, está la «Piedra Talón».
Se compone de un gran círculo de grandes megalitos cuya construcción se fecha hacia el 2500 a. C.6 El círculo de arena que rodea los megalitos es considerado la parte más antigua del monumento, habiendo sido datada sobre el 3100 a. C.
No se sabe exactamente cuál era la finalidad de esta construcción, pero se piensa que se le daba el uso de observatorio astronómico, para predecir las estaciones.
Hace pocos días, en julio del presente año (2020), se realizó un hallazgo en Stonehenen:
“Las pruebas geoquímicas indican que 50 de los 52 megalitos de arenisca gris pálida conocidos como sarsens comparten un origen común a unos 25 kilómetros de distancia en un sitio llamado West Woods en las afueras de Marlborough Downs. Las piedras fueron erigidas alrededor de 2500 años antes de Cristo. La piedra más grande mide 9,1 metros de altura, en tanto que la más pesada tiene unas 30 toneladas.” Fuente: Diario La Nación ver aquí el artículo completo
Lo que aún no está claro, es cómo llegaron esas piedras allí, es decir, cómo fueron trasladadas hace más de 2000 años antes de Cristo. Se supone que con rodillos, pero la realidad es que aún es un misterio que están buscando develar.

An excursion into the unknown: Stonehenge
The road was beautiful, quite similar to a movie.
Me, who come from an almost desert city, was mesmerized looking at the green hills that stretched out on both sides of the road.
And despite the fact that every bus or car trip is like a lullaby for me, at that moment there was no way that the dream would beat the landscape.
There was only one setback.
The excursion, which had started early in the morning, had begun its journey in bright sunshine.
But England taught me that it can rain 20 separate times there in the same day. And that was no exception.
So, after noon, the clouds had covered the sky with a dazzling white, and a fine rain had taken over the air.
For me, this was not a problem, because I love the rain and the cold very much.
But when I realized where we were going, I understood that this time could generate some kind of discomfort.
Well, the first thing that happened is that when we got off the bus, I urgently needed to go to a bathroom, so, as expected, I did. But when leaving and to my surprise, the whole group was already in another part of the park, waiting for another bus to take them to the rocks.
I walked very fast, but the wind began to pick up with me, flipping my umbrella and breaking some of its parts.

As soon as we got to the transport, my heart began to race, because I would see a prehistoric and mysterious monument.
Stonehenge is located in Wiltshire, near Amesbury, in the United Kingdom. It is a set of sedimentary and igneous rocks that are distributed in a circular or horseshoe manner.
While defending my protective element from the breath of air, a metal part tore the skin of my right thumb, but even though it hurt a lot, I kept going, with the aim of joining the people with whom I had started such a journey (although not knew none).
The complex is surrounded by a circular moat measuring around 104 m in diameter. Inside, there are 56 pits known as the "Aubrey Holes." The terrace and the moat are cut by “la Avenida”, which is a processional path 23 meters wide and 3 kilometers long.

Then you can see the "Stone of Sacrifice", and in front of it, is the "Heel Stone."
It is made up of a great circle of great megaliths whose construction dates to around 2500 BC. C.6 The sand circle that surrounds the megaliths is considered the oldest part of the monument, having been dated around 3100 BC. C.
The exact purpose of this construction is not known, but it is thought that it was used as an astronomical observatory to predict the seasons.
A few days ago, in July of this year (2020), a discovery was made in Stonehenen:
“Geochemical evidence indicates that 50 of the 52 pale gray sandstone megaliths known as sarsens share a common origin about 25 kilometers away at a site called the West Woods on the outskirts of the Marlborough Downs. The stones were erected around 2500 years before Christ. The largest stone is 9.1 meters high, while the heaviest is about 30 tons." What is still unclear, is how those stones got there, that is, how they were moved more than 2000 years before Christ. It is supposed to be with rollers, but the reality is that it is still a mystery that they are looking to unravel.
