Embracing Home Workouts for Mental Wellbeing: My Zero-Cost Journey

in #newcomer18 days ago

Steem greetings fellow steemians. Today I i bring you something unusual, something with health benefits; a glimpse of my workout routine. Homework out has been around for quite a bit but not considered by many and even when they do, they put invest money into making equipment available at home.
While many adopters of home workouts post-2019 were largely influenced by the covid 19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns(meaning more time spent at home), my case was different and strange. To be fair we did not have strict rules on lockdown like some parts of the world. I took up home workout because I was trying to learn a new skill. How unusual is that? Sorry I won't be discussing what skill it is, at least not today. I read a book that teaches how to learn anything and in it, I found that a healthy mind was imperative and one way of achieving that is physical exercise. The title of the book is "Mind Shift" just in case... Without the option of a gym, I turned to my own living space and furniture to create a zero-cost workout routine that has significantly improved my mental health.

At first, the idea of using home furniture for exercise seemed unconventional. However, I soon discovered that tables, chairs, stools, and even wall mounts can serve as excellent workout equipment. My routine includes a variety of exercises:
Table pull-ups which help strengthen my triceps and shoulders
Table Planks for inclined planks and push-ups, providing stability while challenging my core.
Stool Step-Ups which I use for step-ups and calf raises, excellent for cardio and leg strength.
Wall Sits and Push-offs. Walls are great for building endurance in my thighs, and push-offs, which are perfect for upper body strength

These exercises require no financial investment and can be done in a small space, making them accessible to anyone. The benefits extend beyond physical health. Regular exercise has been a game-changer for my mental wellbeing. It reduces stress, improves mood, and provides a sense of accomplishment. The convenience of working out at home ensures I stay consistent, even on busy days.

If the thought of expensive gym memberships or hiring a personal trainer has held you back from starting a fitness routine, consider this zero-cost approach. Use what you have at home to get started. It’s not just about physical fitness; it’s about taking care of your mind and finding joy in movement. Give it a try – your body and mind will thank you.
