I use it for the PIF contest at the end of the post where I update all the entries.
There you can see how it looks with 2 columns vs just 1. To do that you just do it like this:
column 1 header|column 2 header|
-----|-----|
column 1 row 1 text|column 2 row 1 text|
column 1 row 2 text|column 2 row 2 text|
column 1 row 3 text|column 2 row 3 text|
column 1 row 4 text|column 2 row 4 text|
Which looks like this:

|---|---|
| column 1 row 1 text | column 2 row 1 text |
| column 1 row 2 text | column 2 row 2 text |
| column 1 row 3 text | column 2 row 3 text |
| column 1 row 4 text | column 2 row 4 text |
