Disney says its streaming services will be cheaper than Netflix
Earlier this year in August, Disney stated it will be removing its contents from Netflix because it wanted to start its own streaming services. Currently, Disney plans to launch the streaming services somewhere around 2019, a year from now, and include its huge film library along with media from some of its channels.
To complete with Netflix, Disney's streaming services will cheaper as compared to Netflix'partially because it will have less content, at least to start, says Disney's chairman.
"I can say that our plan on the Disney side is to price this substantially below where Netflix is. That is in part reflective of the fact that it will have substantially less volume," Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company said. "It'll have a lot of high quality because of the brands and the franchises that will be on it that we've talked about. But it'll simply launch with less volume, and the price will reflect that."
Disney's goal after launching the service will be to attract more subscribers. Iger made mention of the potential in offers for people with Disney credit cards, members of its various clubs and people who visit the Disney theme park.
Due to Disney's earlier agreement with Netflix, Netflix users will be able to access Disney contents through to the end of 2019 including movies which will be release throughout 2018. To follow up on new movie updates, you can follow @showflix for current movie updates and more.
