Needlework Monday – Transformation is complete :)

Today is the #NeedleworkMonday!!! Finally, I finished transforming a sweater into a cardigan :) Girls, tell me what you think: in which version does this thing look better?
So, how I did it. I marked the center with a thread, bent the fabric along the mark, and I made crochet posts on both sides of this mark. Then I cut the fabric at the mark.
I did the same with the sleeves: they were narrow and I had to expand them. After that, I gathered loops and knitted the sleeves.
The next step is to collect the loops stitches and knit the slats. Former long sleeves, I cut off the top according to the method described above and connected with short sleeves so that there were multi-level sleeves.
This is what I got in the end. Now I decide whether to wear a cardigan with a belt or sew on small buttons.

This is amazing!!! I love how you transformed the cardigan. I especially love the light blue yarn which completely changes the appearance of the sweater.
And with the button versus belt. I love how the belt looks on you as it highlights your small waist, which I find very beautiful. I could imagine using one single big button on top of the cardigan, so that you can use it with a belt or without.

Thanks for the steps, I would have hacked it up then tried to add the panel as it unravelled. I will need to adapt to crochet for sleeves.
I can't knit (correction, I am bad at knitting and don't want to try. I like crotchet, knitting =cry, crochet = happy.)😊
I have half a wrap around cardigan thing I kind of freestyled on the go, that I lost interest in finishing a few weeks ago. This is fabulous.
I love an upcycling project more than making one from scratch.
I'm very glad!!! I am sure that you can also crochet the sleeves. I like to crochet the placket on the front of the cardigan: it's much more convenient than knitting it. I wish you success!!!!

The cardigan is prettyyyy! I like the light blue stripes added to the black. The cardigan looks like a brand new style altogether and the light blue does give it a new life :) I think you can wear it with that beautiful butterfly brooch or wear it without or wear it with little buttons or wear it with a belt depending on which occasion.

That looks great, @tali72. I live in the countryside and really have only a couple of occasions a year so I don't wear formal clothes or belts and tend to mainly choose buttons (or zippers).
It all just depends on whether you feel comfortable wearing a belt :D
you're right: with buttons and a zipper is much more convenient than a belt. I refused buttons because of our weather. if you wear clothes on buttons it becomes hot, if you unzip it is cold :) I'm trying to find a compromise :) thank you so much !!!
