#needleworkmonday | Minnow Uprising - The One Thing You Can Do

in #needleworkmonday6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to July and #minnowuprising - @taskmaster4450's initiative to overwhelm Steemit with plankton and minnow posts, to grow our accounts and get a bigger piece of the Steemit pie. Read all about it here.

This means if you are a plankton (less than 500 Steem Power) or a minnow (less than 5,000 Steem Power), the goal is to post 3-4 times a day and use your vote power to upvote fellow baby fish. You get ten 100% upvotes a day (if you have a slider bar, you can vote more often at a lower percentage).

Thanks to @phoenixwren for that nice summary from this post, which also has a link to this post with lots of ideas of things to blog about. Posting 3/4 times is a great idea, but if you're not able to do that, here's the one thing you can do:

The one thing you can do - use all your upvotes - 10 a day at 100%.

(Thanks to @mrscwin for the fabulous picture 😊).

Not Sure What Your Voting Power Is?

Here's an easy tool to help you: head for Steem Now. Look at the third box down:
IMG_1988.PNG
1. Replace penguinpablo with your username. 2. Your voting power will show in box 2. Anything above 80% voting power and you're good to go with 100% upvotes. It will also tell you how many hours until you reach 100% voting power.

But Plankton Votes Are So Tiny They Are Not Worth Anything

Treat yourself to @dustsweeper. In your wallet, transfer a small amount of Steem Dollars to @dustsweeper. This account will match tiny plankton votes coming into your account (especially useful for votes on comments) and make sure everyone of them counts. Here's the Dustsweeper FAQs which tell you more about it.

Minnow Uprising - Starting Stats for #needleworkmonday

IMG_1998.PNG
Profile on Sunday 1 July 2018 at 8am of the 22 posts in the previous week with the #needleworkmonday tag: 16 plankton (red fish) and 6 minnows. Notice that all the larger accounts have less than 100% voting power (VP).

At the beginning of July, the 22 accounts that posted under #needleworkmonday the previous week had 9,731 Steem Power (SP). Each account has ten votes at 100% Voting Power (VP) everyday, and over a week there are 1,540 votes between the 22 accounts. The actual votes over the week by each account is shown in the Votes column.

In the next column, (VA), votes have been adjusted to cap minnows at 70 (minnows have a slider bar which allows them to give out more smaller votes at 100% VP); and the two plankton accounts have been capped at 70 votes at 100% VP. This gives a total of 1,113 votes (about 72%) cast against a possible 1,540 votes at 100% VP - a loss of 427 votes.

We need those 427 votes to help shift more of the rewards pie towards the smaller plankton and minnow accounts.

Why I love #needleworkmonday

When @crosheille ran this challenge a few weeks ago, #needleworkmonday posters talked about what they enjoyed - being among like-minded people who loved knitting and sewing and a hundred things in between, sharing ideas, being inspired, getting and giving support. That's wonderful!

Would we like a little more of the rewards pie as well?

I think so.

I'd like to see the amount of Steem Power in #needleworkmonday steadily increase over the month of #minnowuprising. Please use all your votes during the week to help that, even if you don't have time to post or comment. That's the one thing you can do 😊.

To much headache for me... I have to read this tomorrow in depth, but it sounds like a fabulous idea! Thank you for explaining and sharing this initiative (I often did not know such things)

I have a headache too, after writing it, but worth it, I think, especially if we can help to build accounts 😊.

Oh no, hope you feel better fast. I will try it tomorrow and hope I can read better by then (I had an appointment at an eye specialist... reading is a bit tough right now)

Oh dear, hope you soon feel better. The heat doesn't help too much (I'm English, the weather is never just right 😎).

lol couldnt agree more, too complicated for me too.
Hi, I 'm Nathen, do you make mittens ?

I tried one time, (in crochet) but only fingerless... Perhaps you visit ravelry, there should be many patterns for mittens :-D

Yes, I love fingerless mitts. I can wear them while writing or knitting, since my hands often get cold.

Fingerless mittens, now there's a thing! This is why I love Steemit, you learn so much :-)
I wish you a wonderful day :-)

Thank you for making us aware of this #minnowuprising @shanibeer! I especially appreciate you rooting for the needleworkers and wanting the SP to rise more amongst us.

Honestly I know that posting 3 to 4 times a day is unrealistic for me. I also always thought that posting that much a day may annoy the community...but that’s just my opinion. However I am working on something that I know will help the #NeedleWorkMonday participants to have bigger rewards...hopefully soon I’ll be posting about it to let you all know.

For now I’ll just continue to upvote everyone I can with what I already have. Lately I’ve noticed that us crafters are gaining more attention and even getting more Curie upvotes which is Fantastic!!

I agree, posting three or four times is not the best idea.
My post really was about voting and everyone using their voting power to the full - just as you are talking about. I'd love to see a virtuous voting circle!
Your new initiative sounds intriguing, I look forward to hearing all about it 😍

I would love to see that too!

Yes I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all!!

Yay! So excited that you used the photo!!

This is great info @shanibeer, and I love that you’re helping the #needleworkmonday community with the #minnowuprising in July. I will definitely help with that. 😊

I knew I was going to use it as soon as I saw it, it's such a great photo, especially with the caption! I'm glad you're supporting #minnowuprising, I really liked your #followerfriday post, great idea 😊

Yay, I'm glad you're doing the initiative too. My VP is back in the 70s now. You'd think with us all being locked out yesterday, it would have had time to recover, but I used it up again!

Would love to get more steem power into #needleworkmonday! I was wondering about trying the @treeplanter voting circle one week, what do you think? It won't be next Monday as I'm going on a make-a-website-using-wordpress on Monday and Tuesday and I wouldn't be able to keep a close eye on what was happening.

It got really tangled right away, so my recommendation would be to keep a tight control on it somehow; like maybe ask everyone who wants to join first, and then assign who sends one to whom. :)

mm, the more I reflect on the idea, the more I think I'll do something else, even housework 😂

Great post!

I’ve been posting more often since reading that post too. I mostly use all my votes too.

Thank you! Let's see if we can make a difference!

Great post and I do like @taskmasters initiative, it was a great post, albeit with slight reservations about increased levels of spam.....
22 accounts posting under the #needleworkmonday tag and I still can't get a pair of green mittens...
and finally, Im finding myself strangely attracted to that pic of @mrscwin...think Im going to giver her a follow !
ohhh and really finally this time, yes, yes, I know 'finally' is a superlative, but what time do you call this? its 11.30pm in Thailand, I usually get my weekly dose of needlework with my afternoon tea!
You have a great week....and as for the mittens, my hands are quite large :-)

If you’re looking for me to make them, with all my works in progress ahead of you, you are looking at 2025 before you get green mittens, @nathen007.... 😂😂😂

lol..I am like an elephant, have a long memory and 2025, green mittens and mrscwin have been added to google calendar lol :-)
Lovely to meet you, and have a great week :-)

@shanibeer s going to crucify me for hitting on all her friends lol ;-)

I think they have the measure of you 😜

lol...that's not difficult ;-)

Yes, I'm not sure about the extra posts or even posting everyday. I'd much rather see fewer good posts and people taking up the other options - voting, dustsweeper, etc.
I'm going to try a voting circle one week. That should be fun hehe 😂

Thank you @shanibeer... I have used the #upvoteplankton tag a couple of times - that's the same thing, isn't it ?
I try hard to make a post a day, but more than that may upset some people - I wonder...

Yes, #upvoteplankton is all part of the same push, and @slobberchops and @steevc have started #adoptaplankton (and adopted one each) 😊. I was a bit aghast at the 3/4 posts a day - some people may lose followers by increasing their output. For some people (I'm one of them) posting daily is more than enough. (I think you manage it very well, your posts are gentle and like a good morning) 😊.

Thank you @shanibeer... I personally will keep at it because I enjoy learning and the discipline of a post a day. I also feel really fortunate to be in such good company ... glad to know I come over as a bit laid back 😊

Thank you so much for sharing all this useful information @shanibeer! https://www.steemnow.com/ is so cool and I have treated myself to @dustsweeper :) I need to re-read and re-read your post again to capture as much as I can. I am also "subscribed" to @minnowsupport service which is quite cool too I think where you transfer 0.001 SBD to @msp-reg and we then choose which post that we would like to upvote with a 36 hours cooling off period.

That all sounds great!

I am just returning from a few days unplugged.. I am excited to jump in on this #minnowuprising, and am tickled to see my #Needleworkmonday crew participating.

Hugs

Good to see you!

You just planted 0.06 tree(s)!
