NeedleworkMonday - Felting
@jamethiel picked up a felting kit on one of her trips earlier this year but hadn't gotten around to trying it. About a month ago I found a small setup for felting an orca that I thought might be fun. But, since I had never done felting before we thought it might be a good idea to learn with the kit she had first. Here are the first two things I have made with it.
This is an attempt at a multi-colored flower:
After finishing the flower I needed another idea of something to make. I was walking through the living room and spotted a cat toy, a plush six-sided cube. I decided to make something similar:
This seems like something I will experiment with a bit more, as I can do it while watching TV in the evening without too much concentration. Just enough to keep from stabbing my finger with the needle.

For first tries at felting, they are very cute!
Felting looks like so much fun! Good for your for giving it another try. Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you, my dear!
It's pretty calming now that I have a bit of an idea what I am doing.
That's great! Makes it so much more fun!!
I'm sure the cats will enjoy that! Mine would! 😺😸
They have all smelled it but not much playing yet. I think I might rub some catnip on it and see what happens.
You might try putting it in the container of catnip for a few days so it really soaks up the smell. Drs Foster and Smith catnip comes with little pompom toys in the jar that my cats enjoy. :)
Good idea, I think I'll try that.
This is pretty cool work, @lordvdr! Keep at it during TV time and you’ll become a pro! Good job!
Thanks. My second piece was definitely better than the first.
Welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday @lordvdr! @jamethiel was telling us about this kit and how you were going to take a whack at it! I’m glad you found the time to give it a try. I think this is pretty good for your first attempt. Looking forward to seeing what you try next! Thank you for sharing!
I think I am going to try making the orca that I bought and hopefully that will turn out okay.
Please share and post about it when you do!! 😃
