My traveling skirt my lifetime classic / 旅するスカート
It's #needleworkmonday. This time I write about a skirt that may become my lifetime classic :)
Some years ago when I was living in Kyoto Japan, I found nice dark blue hemp fabric. It was a bit expensive but I bought some to make a long skirt to spend hot summer in Kyoto comfortably.
In addition to wearing it in my daily life I also took it to a lot of travel. It is relaxing with elastic waistband, it can be quite small when it’s rolled and it looks fine even it gets creases. It is a skirt for my traveling life.
I am satisfied with the skirt. However I noticed few things to improve after wearing it for some years: adding pockets, making its waist part with jersey instead of rubber band like baby pants I made …
Next time I will make a pattern of the skirt so that I can make it time by time in my life. I wish I could develop my lifetime classics and gradually independent from controversial fashion industry as much as I can (of course there are nice producers though) while I enjoy wearing clothes.
I slowly slowly prepare my new traveling skirt for next summer.

数年前まだ京都に住んでいた時、河原町四条のノムラテーラーでよい感じの麻の生地を見つけて、ちょっと高かったけれどご縁を感じて奮発して、暑い夏を涼しく過ごせるように麻のロングスカートを作りました。
ウエストがゴムで楽々で、丸めると結構小さくなって、多少しわになっても大丈夫で、日常で着たのはもちろんずいぶん一緒にいろいろな所に旅をしました。生地代のもとはとれたと思います ;)
結構満足の出来なのですが、ウエストはゴムでなくて赤ちゃんのパンツのような幅太の伸縮地にしたら快適かも、ポケットはやっぱりあった方がいいな・・・など実際着ながらいくつか改善点が出てきました。
数年着てとても気に入ったので、今回はきちんと型紙をおこしてこれからの人生の時々で作って行けたらと思っています。それでそういう人生の定番をいくつか持って、洋服を着ることは楽しみつつも問題の多いファッション産業からは少しずつ離れていきたいです。
そんなこんなで新しい旅するスカート、夏に着られるようにゆっくり準備したいです。

It's so nice to have a garment that fits perfectly for all occasions, especially one you made yourself! And having a pattern is a great idea. I wish I could figure out how to make something similar for myself.
Yes. Hemp is one of my favorite fabrics as I come from a country with hot humid summer. I look forward to seeing yours in #needleworkmonday in the future :)

手作りなのがすごいです😳
生地のおかげです・・・実は当時はやく着たくて四角い布を輪にしてゴムを通しただけというひどくシンプルな作りなので、今度はロングカートだしとごまかさずに前と後ろの長さに差をつけるなどきちんと製図したいなと思っています ;)
Black always classic!
Actually it's dark blue but I would like to have black one too. I like darker colors but one difficult thing is that it's quite hot under strong sunshine with those colors ... ;)
Yes thats true about the sunshine, in the photo the color really seems very close to black.
Oh yes long skirts are so comfortable! Adding pockets would be a good idea. I plan to make myself a maxi skirt this Summer. They look pretty simple to make! Thanks for sharing with us today!! 😊

Hi @akipponn.and happy #NeedleworkMonday! Your selection of hemp for a summer skirt is perfect! It never rips or shrinks, and it is incredibly durable! There is a lady near me who makes hemp skirts and I bought three!
Have your considered inserting a side-zip? It really makes a nice A-line.

Thank you @crystalize. A side zip is nice too. I remember I wanted to make a skirt quickly with the fabric then I simply sewed the side and added rubber band in the waist ... This time I think about the shape and the pattern a bit more thoroughly. I have still time until summer time :)

いろいろな思い出ができますよね。私もそういえば旅するリュックがあります。30LのDeuterというドイツのアウトドア用品のリュックで、質実剛健、ポケットやものを吊るせるタブがいっぱいついていて便利です。はじめてインドに行く時にリュックだけで行けるようにと買いました。赤ちゃんと外出するようになって荷物が増えてからは日常でも使うようになりました・・・・・・・ ;)
