Latest Buzz Around the NBA

in #nba7 years ago

There are a lot of interesting storylines occurring around the NBA at the moment. Recently, we saw Chris Paul get traded to the Rockets to join MVP candidate James Harden while rumors continue to swirl around the Knicks, Pacers, and Jazz. What happens next?

The Knicks

Upon (FINALLY) firing Phil Jackson, the world is watching at what happens next for the franchise. While it is more likely than not that Carmelo Anthony stays, what exactly will happen now that he is openly declared he would take less to join the Cavs?

Lebron and Melo's friendship goes way back

A buyout opportunity would be a godsend for the Cavs, but unlikely. What they end up doing remains to be seen though.

The Rockets

While just completing the biggest trade of the year in acquiring Chris Paul, the Rockets seem intent on convincing Paul George to come tag along for the ride. Houston has gone on record that they are still going to be aggressive and will pursue another star to complement their dynamic duo.

The Celtics

The Celtics are in a interesting position because they have so many young assets to leverage in any trade. Since the end of the season for the Jazz, Hayward has been rumored to join the Celtics because of his affinity for coach Brad Stevens (coached him in college) and also the blossoming team that they have. Hayward is also meeting with the Heat on Sunday, among other teams. A crazy situation that could occur would be: Hayward and Blake Griffin joining forces somewhere (either the Heat, or the Celtics).

The Celtics are also in the running for Paul George. Seems like they are in the mix with everything so you never know.

There is lots of movement all around the league, but these are some of the big names that might be moving soon.

What do you guys think? What would you love to see?

Hello fellow NBA aficionado!

Ultimately, I think Melo needs to join Lebron in Cleveland. They need to deal LOVE for MELO or something like so.... I also think Wade can get bought out and also go to Cleveland with Lebron for one year. Wade ultimately (I think) will end his career back in Miami.

PG13 -- we all know he wants to go to Los Angeles. SO whether that's the Clippers or Lakers is yet to be seen.

Houston sent alot of talent to the Clippers for CP3. Houston is trying to win RIGHT NOW b/c CP3 is an aging talent so it should be interesting. Houston has the ability to score with the best of them. I'd love to see a Houston/GS WCF!

Spurs are gonna go after Lowry, I believe.

Hayward will end up in Miami, while Miami will need to squeeze Waiters and James Johnson under the cap.

Looking forward to this upcoming season!!

Cheers and Blessings!

Hello!

Oh my, I hope the Cavaliers don't even consider a LOVE for MELO trade. What I do think is possible is Melo getting bought out--but leaving much more money on the table--and then joining the Cavs. But yes, totally can see the Wade rental coming. If they win a championship, he might even stay there to end his career!

Hayward to Miami is seeming more and more likely in my mind too...what if Griffin also joins him!? That would be fun to watch, haha.

Spurs definitely have at least one move in them. They lost the CP3 sweepstakes, but they might look to package Aldridge for a quality guard like lowry, as you mentioned. Or get a package in return of something like Rose+another quality player.

Looking forward to it as well...thanks for commenting!

I'll be occasionally posting NBA updates, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them in the future!

I dig your enthusiasm!

I really believe whoever ends up as the GM in Cleveland & NY -- both are going to want something. Considering Lebron's power in Cleveland, they will need to land Melo somehow, someway haha. The GM In NY will want something in return, rather than a buy-out. I'm not so sure Melo would allow a trade anywhere unless its next to his good ole' pal LBJ.

Hayward to Miami seems very likely. I don't see Boston doing much b/c Ainge is very attached to his picks. THE OVERLORD of DRAFT PICKS! :-)

I also think the Thunder are going to do their best to snag Blake. Miami would not be able to keep Waiters or James Johnson (who they've recently developed) and/or be able to afford Blake+Hayward. Ultimately, I think its Hayward + James Johnson....and hope Waiters give a bit of a discount to Miami to stay there as well. After drating BAM, keeping James Johnson who can also play the 3 if needed and also having Whiteside longterm, I don't see Riley chasing Griffin.

I also hope for The Spurs sake, they do not go after Rose and only Lowry. IF anyone can groom Lowry, its The Spurs. Rose is just not worth the hassle anymore, for any team, imo!

Thanks for commenting back!!

Cheers & Blessings!

Couple personal opinions here....

Paul George going to Celtics would be his best fit in terms of winning IMO

Rockets should have went for Paul George NOT Chris Paul

Carmelo Anthony should leave New York.....He isn't a leader and him and the Knicks need to realize that.

Phil Jackson was a disease for New Knick .... Almost as good a move as moving Carmelo . If they can do both I think they are moving in the right direction

Clippers lose Griffin soon

Gonna be a great year of basketball !!!

Indeed it will be! What do you think of the George, Paul, Harden combo though? It will be interesting to see how Paul and Harden mesh...and I agree that the Celtics would be the best fit for PG-13.

So, where do you think Melo should go? Not a lot of teams want his huge contract, but the Knicks aren't willing (yet) to buy him out. Tough situation.

And yes, I would be more surprised if Griffin stays than leaves. He might team up with Hayward or George somewhere!

One of the more interesting offseasons in a while, haha.

I'm curious to see how Harden's usage etc will be with even Chris Paul in the picture. Harden LOVES to shoot . Who will run the offence ? Typically the PG but how will Harden handle that ?

After reading what Indiana wants for PG-13 (2 first rounders from celtics in 2018 and a starter) I have my doubts the Rockets can make that work. On top of that Chris Paul I don't see taking a discount so beyond this year could they really keep all 3 ? Doesn't seem to make sense to give up all the assets for one year.

Everyday something different on Melo so it's anyones guess what happens with him.

And yes VERY interesting off season !

Everyone trying to make super teams !

One more thing to add.....Minnesota has some potential as well . I'm curious to see what happens with Rubio. Still young but they are actively trying to trade him ? Guess they rly want a pure shooter in the backcourt , I believe he was low 30s in % from the field ? I like the line up as is , but what do I know haha. Good to see these teams following the trend though be nice to see some competitive playoffs !

I love Minnesota. Super excited to see how it looks on the court and looking forward to them wreaking some havoc. If they can buy in defensively as a team, they will be tough to beat. But yeah, coach Thibs was never a big fan of his lack of spacing, so he's been trying to get somebody else. I don't know if there is mutual interest, but Jeff Teague could be a great fit for them in my opinion. We'll see what they do.

I think the Pacers are the biggest losers from the CP3 trade. After seeing what Butler and CP3 got traded for, NO WAY they get 2 firsts from anybody. There minimal leverage in a George trade practically vanished. To be honest, there best bet is a straight up George for Love move. Other than that, they will be receiving a poo poo platter.

Just posted a blog about my take on this years free agency.
Think Hayward will end up at the Celtics

Hard to tell what is going to happen, really lot of shifting at the moment.

Agreed! Teams are playing it close to the vest at the moment...a "BREAKING NEWS" article feels almost imminent haha...
