SIMPLE SUNDAY NATURE PHOTO CONTEST IS OPEN!

To participate in this contest, submit an original photo and a short description in the comments section of this post. The contest is open until 9:00 AM EST, March 5. By submitting a photo, you agree to have it featured in the winners announcement post, and automatically entered in the weekly and monthly contests, should it be a winner. For a detailed and updated description of the Nature Photo Contest, please check out the Introduction Post.

The judge in today’s contest is Seth (@yumyumseth), an amateur photographer from Central Ohio who enjoys soccer, beer, and anything involving nature. He loves being active and outdoors whenever possible and feels most alive when surrounded by natural beauty. Ohio isn’t generally known for its scenery, but Seth enjoys trying to capture beauty in its sometimes mundane landscapes (P.S. Ohio actually has some gorgeous parks too in case you’re wondering).

Looking forward to your submissions!

Smokey sunset, Wollombi Valley, New South Wales, Australia. Our friend Helios has a diameter about 109 times that of Earth, and it a mass about 330,000 times that of Earth, accounting for about 99.86% of the total mass of the solar system. With a surface temperature of approximately 5,778 K (5,505 °C, 9,941 °F) it keeps us warm despite being a distance of 1.496x10^8 km, or 8 min 19 s at light speed, away .

This is the photo I made today on my smartphone. We went with friends to the mountains to enjoy the views of the rocks of the mountain and the gorge. But a thick mist lay down and I had to enjoy minimalism :)

Crimea, Bakhchisaray.

Thank you for your submission!

Nice, cool mist!

A minimalist view of sand dunes in Death Valley National Park, California. I zoomed in on one of these massive dunes during the early morning light with an eye for capturing shapes instead of detail.

Thank you!! :)

My entry for today. It's simple, when you have blizzards and snow, we have the salt.
salt.Car..JPG

Whattt, those are blocks of salt!? So cool!

Hi @yumyumseth yes this is salt, 100% natural sea salt. Per year about 700.000 tons of salt I am going to write about on my blog. If you like you can follow me.

Wow, that's so cool! I'll check it out! :)

Yes, it is very cool. When they harvest the salt it looks like a big bed of diamonds I got a few a good pictures of that but still waiting for my lucky shot to get the intens sparkle on my picture and that depends on the time, where the sun is at and clouds.

Wow amazing!! Thank you so much @shadalene !!

I clicked this shot with my phone near Laguna Colorada in Bolivia. Bolivia never fails to amaze me with its breathtaking wild nature. And I didn’t edit anything to show its original colors:
