The judge in today's contest is Raul Poenar (@raoul.poenar), a 33 years old self-taught landscape and portrait photographer from Romania who really loves what he does. "I appreciate the people I meet, the places I go to, and the friends I make. I love being outdoors, in the middle of a forest or on top of a mountain just before the sun rises or standing in the freezing cold just to get that shot. I'm very passionate about what I do and I'm constantly educating myself about various aspects of photography. I like a minimal approach to photography. Less is more." - Raul

Photo of a tree's autumn leaves under a monotonous sky.

Honestly I don't see anything here. I would have liked to see just the tip of the tree against the sky in a square crop. That would have looked amazing

Thank you for your submission, @a0i! I like the chromatic and the melancholic feel of this photo. :)

This is a cloud sunset shot taken from Joeseph D. Grant county park near San Jose California.

Thank you for your submission, @fivealive55. The movement and contrast in this photo are spectacular, they give the elements so much personality! Cool composition, too.

This minimalist enough? :) August 21, 2017 Solar Eclipse. Made this photo last summer near Riverton, WY.

This is a yin yang type of image :) Really love how that halo of light shines through the darkness of the image

Thank you for your submission, @monotharch! Very cool shot.

This one is from last year, was a full moon night and was trying some tricks to understand moon photography, but best one was this in which I focused leaves of the tree and keeping moon in the background I called it Tattooed Moon😊😊, some time minimalism brings the best out.

Please provide a description of the photograph. Thank you!

Haha the title suits the image. That's the first thing I thought when I saw it :)

Really? Wow so glad to know that, thank you

Nice concept here, @piyushpathak, and well executed too. I also wonder what it would looked like if the subject wasn't centered. Thanks for your submission!

Thanks a lot ! Yeah I tried that too ;)

I don't understand what minimalism is from the artistic point of view. My picture, even though it deviates from the nature idea, represents what a minimalist life is.
This is Cabo Polonio in Uruguay, a small village on the Atlantic coast. They live basically from fishing, handcrafts and tourism. There are no energy, and water is mainly captured from the rain.

A great sunday and an even better monday for you all!

@mrprofessor, if you look up minimalist photography you'll get a good idea of what the concept entails. I appreciate the comment, but as you may expect, the photo does not qualify in this contest..

Sure no problem! Just wanted to share a bit of Cabo Polonio and how they live a minimalistic life.

This is my take of the day, I hope it is minimalist enough, but if not, it is very natural. The photo was taken on the cliffs of Étretat in northern France, the bird was standing on a promontory and I wanted to take a shot of it with the cliff in the background but surprisingly the bird turned and looked at me and I achieved this capture. (ISO 200; 200mm; F 5.6; 1/800; NIKON D3000; AF-S DX Zoom - Nikkor 55-200mm f / 4-5.6G). I hope you like it.

Please provide a short description of the photograph. Thank you!

Thank you for your submission, @jlgc! This is a sweet aviary close-up. I like the contours, and the prevalence of white does it a minimalist look.

here is my entry for #simplesunday :)

This is a picture from a glass wall, I took it in Amsterdam it was a whole wall like glass art , I liked it a lot

Please provide a short description of the photograph. Thank you!

Well, I'm a sucker for patterns and textures and this image has it all, though it leans a bit toward the abstract side . Great image nontheless!

Thank you very much ! :)

@vee2180, I need some clarification from you about the subject of the photo, please. :) It is not clear to me whether this is a photo of glass as found in nature, or man-made glass. If the latter, I'm afraid it wouldn't qualify. If it is a nature photograph, then great! Either way, it is a gorgeous shot. :)

Hi @shadalene, it's a man made wall, actually , it was a glass artist who designed the wall :)

That is what I thought! Great artist, and your photo is superb, but unfortunately it doesn't quality as a nature photograph. :/ Thanks for understanding.

no problem ;)

Blood moon lunar eclipse from April 3, 2015.
Salt Flats-20150403-431.jpg

Always nice to see the moon and the details and textures. The fact that it was a blood moon makes it even more special. Thanks for the entry!

although the sun comes up in my back garden, it goes down in the garden of my opposite neighbours. A present of nature twice a day. :-)

Interesting concept there, @janine-ariane! Thanks for the entry. A little more nature would be welcome in this contest! :)

I can imagine, but it is simple sunday is it not :-) That little sun in the window made my evening.

it's the small things that deserve our attentionminimal2.JPG

Please provide a short description of the photograph. Thank you!
