Questions, questions! about this hot pink delight! HOW did you get it to flower? How/when (not) to water. Where do you keep her after she's all flowered out? (How long will she flower?) Is this an OLD orchid. I was amazed at how my grandmother always got her amaryllises to flower each year anew, and she had quite a schedule for them including stays up in the attic. I wish I had learned more about her methods. Do teach me about keeping orchids if you can, instead!
Well @sukhasanasister, I'm not an expert on orchids. The orchid above is only 1 year old. I bought it when it had flowers on it. These are the first blooms after the ones from a year ago! What I have done to get them to rebloom is to always keep them on my kitchen table by my large windows. They get lots of sunshine or light year round. I feed them with liquid orchid food that is mixed into spring water or filtered water. You actually water them with this special liquid orchid food every other month. Then I try to water them once a week with plain spring water or filtered water. When I see that they have new fuds forming I try to feed them every 2 weeks with the liquid orchid food. I have a yellow orchid (3 years old now) that didn't bloom last spring and now I am hoping it will bloom this year. I read they have to be repotted eventually also! This is what the whole plant looks like. It is a very healthy orchid. Good Luck!
