Elephant Tree & Shaving Tree for TreeTuesday
Here's a couple more trees growing in the
Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK.
See last week's post about a chocolate tree and a myola palm tree.
The Elephant Tree has very interesting bark as does the next tree.
I'm fascinated by it's unique bark!
Here is a close up of a leaf of the Shaving Brush Tree.
How did these 2 trees get their names?
Has anyone ever seen either of these trees in person?
Have a Blessed Day!

Not only the bark but the trunk structure of the elephant tree is definitely twisted.
For fun I will answer your questions:
Elephant tree - the hint is in the Latin "bursera" which basically means swelling like in English we say "burst". The truck of these trees swell like an elephant's legs... but in your picture I really didn't get that feeling.
Shaving brush tree - this is not so obvious
I really like the Latin name "Pseudobombax ellipticum"
It has a great beat
But I have no idea what "bombax" means.
Anyway... you are right. You got to see this tree before you can know why it is called the shave brush tree.

In all of the simplicity, nature still looks amazing! Thanks for sharing it with us! <3
Really wonderful looking tree, Violet:)
nice photography.
The shaving tree almost reminds me of camo on the bark! The elephant tree is pretty gnarly and twisted!

Really cool trees, the elephant tree is like nothing I have ever seen before. The other one looks very much like what is called a fringe tree here. I wonder if they are one in the same. It also appears to be in the same family as a mimosa tree? Thanks for always stopping by.
Spectacular.
So pure and photogenic!
Have you had the opportunity to go to Honor Heights in Muskogee for the Azalea blooms? It is awesome.
