Butterflies and Chrysalises in the Butterfly House

Gulf Fritillary Butterfly
Look at the gorgeous details on the body and antennae of this butterfly in addition to the wings!

White Peacock Butterflies that had just emerged less than an hour before these photos.

The clear, empty chrysalis is hanging beside it.
The butterflies hang upside down to dry their wings.

In both photos you can also see green chrysalises of butterflies that have not yet emerged.

Every week new chrysalises arrive in the mail and are pinned on the boards so new butterflies can emerge into the butterfly house.

I don't do this other volunteers are trained to do this.

The whole point of this butterfly house is to educate people to plant the host plants for butterflies that are native to Texas.

We also try to encourage them to plant flowers for nectar that are good for butterflies and bees!

Looking through the Butterfly House!

I'm only going to volunteer twice in July - I'm busy with other things right now!
Next visit will be on July 18th.

Thank you for your greetings of peace and butterflies of hope.

This really is a message of resurrection and new life coming out of the dark cocoon. It has been raining constantly here in Korea and now a typhoon.

The Gulf Fritillary brightened my day. I have never seen a butterfly like that. This is magic. Kids should come and see this and gardeners and locals should come and learn about what plants to attract butterflies and bees. If that pollination is gone variety is depleted. We live in a delicate ecosystem.

Thanks again for opening your world to us.

I know isn't that butterfly beautiful! Oh my, I'm sorry to hear about your rain and the typhoon! Time for some praying for calm weather and blue skies! I will add you all to my prayers!

Thank you for your prayers. Don't worry about the weather. We will be fine. We are happy it is cool, but a few people are gloomy. There is nothing dangerous.

Pray for me to remain in God's word and be a good witness in my deeds and actions and words I write and say. Sometimes I go a little overboard on Steemit.

I really love the verse you shared.

I will pray for you! That’s the Bible verse I read first thing Sunday morning. I posted that verse on my Instagram. I always liked that you posted a bible verse everyday on your poetry post. You just never know who will read it and need to see that particular verse - Christian or non- Christian.

Excellent! Those of some LOVELY colors and patterns that I have never seen before. Also, interesting how the heads, eyes, antennae, etc. differ between different species. I am personally also interested in more information on the various plants/flowers which specific butterflies are attracted to, if you are inclined to share more of this info...

Butterfly houses are so interesting. We had so many butterflies last year and it wasn’t something we planned for they just loved our wold flowers.
P.S. you are mentioned in my latest post. 🐓🐓

Thank you!

How awesome! I learned a few things here today!

I had no idea they hang upside down for their wings to dry. I had no idea they pin them to watch them come into this world.

I do plant plants to attract/feed butterflies and hummingbirds. Thank you for the lovely post.

Have a blessed week ahead.

That's great and thank you!

Wao! What interesting information you have brought us. I did not know that there was a butterfly house is to educate people to plant the host plants for butterflies.

It's amazing to watch the birth of such beauty. Usually this is hidden from us, but you have shown us these amazing moments. Butterflies are great. Well done!

What wonderful creatures to share this world with.

I enjoyed this post. Butterflies are so gorgeous. This is a great service to teach people so they can help them thrive

Great captures of these beautiful creatures!
