Abandoned ant hill
I saw this ant hill when I went walking on Swartkops. This is not a pile of excavated soil but a complex work of architecture that acts as air conditioning for the ant nest. The ants also use them as incubators for the developing young and grow fungi within the tunnels. At certain times of the year, large mushrooms sprout from the ant hill. The ants that live in these mounds are large, unlike the small black ants that come into the house although the hills that they make don't get much larger than this one.
This ant hill has been abandoned for a very long time and is slowly disintegrating and the tunnels are now exposed. Normally, the surface of these particular ant hills are very hard and it is easy to stand on top of one without causing and damage to the mound.
Right now, these images remind me of the current state of Steemit, since the crypto markets took a nose dive. Oh well, fewer posts means bigger percentage upvotes from me for the brave souls who are still posting. Remember folks, you earn relatively more Steem during these times, sit tight and power it up. This too shall pass
I hope you are right . There seem to be plenty of people abandoning the ship. 🐓🐓
What goes up must come down and the opposite is also true. I am using this opportunity to power up my account
Me too for what it’s worth! Haha. 🐓🐓
Your SP actually grows more in spite of the lower payouts
So much detail, ants are such hard little workers.
I'm amazed at the group mind that enables them to do this
It reminds me on sea corals. I would probably took it with me, plant something in it or colored it and put it in a living room for my cat to wonder .. what is this for God's sake.. now for!? (She knows that she is not allowed to play with/destroy my things :) Then she mijauuu and look at me like she is asking what is this for?)
Or I could colored it and put it somewhere in the garden like a sculpture, just not to collect dust in the house. Yes, that would be kidnapping from nature just art and beauty in honor.
:)
Except that it would be impossible to remove without breaking it into pieces. They are amazing, though
It was just my play with imagination... Yes, they are admirable!
Great article, we have them too.
I remember that giant ant trail you posted: do those make anthills?
Great photos!
At first I thought it was some kind of stone ...
Yes, indeed the ants are good builders.
They tired me on my balcony! :-)
I would like them to crawl elsewhere - away from my balcony!
I also hate the ants in my house. They get into everything. When it is hot, you will even find them inside the taps collecting water
Luckily the ants are only on the balcony!
Is from my friend and in the house.
Yes, it's terrible! And they are difficult to withdraw!
I sat on an ant hill once and got covered in ants, it was the most frightening thing to me then as a 4 years old...
That must have been awful!
I may write about it here on steemit, but I have many other things to write about first in this eventful life...

Hola @nikv
