Chestnut Teals and Duckling (Six Photos)
We have two species of Teal here. This one is the Chestnut Teal (Anas castanea). The pair I was watching at Tamar Wetlands last week had a solitary duckling ( average clutch is 7-10)
Here's a shot of the Chestnut Teal duckling.
...and here it is foraging in the mud with dad.
That's mum in the background.
It looks like Hans Christian Andersen's Ugly Duckling in this shot but I doubt it will turn into a swan :-)
