Plant Identification App

I have been working outside in my yard this week and I have let some weeds or flowers take over a small area around my huge maple tree. I cannot identify poison ivy or poison oak but a friend once pointed out a plant growing wild in my flower bed and told me that it was poisonous. I started treating that particular plant as if it were poisonous even though I had no real proof.

I came across an advertisement for an app called Picture This. It allows you to take pictures of plants for identification. I downloaded it since it was free and tested it out on a picture of some berries that I took while hiking in the forest. I mentioned in an earlier post that I didn't know if the berries were edible or not.

Well lo and behold, the berries were wild black berries according to the app! I would not starve if I were lost in the forest as long as I had my telephone and WIFI access. 😊 I guess I could also email or call for help in that situation.

The app will be helpful around my yard and in the city though. Have a great day!
