Cycling the old Swedish construction road.
Earlier I have made 2 post from the construction of the railroad between the cities Kiruna in Sweden, and Narvik in northern Norway. If interest you find the link in the end of this post. In July we followed the road on the Swedish side of the border. Along this road is an old graveyard used during this period. Here is also the famous Svarta bjørn (Black bear) buried. The road follow the lake Torneträsk and to the city Kiruna. We did the trip on bike and cycled the road around 20 km.
The mountain formation is called "Lapp-porten", The Sami gate and is located in Abisko.
View over the lake Torneträsk.
An old house beside the construction road.
The graveyard. Many of the old gravestone is eroded. Therefore the new marking of the graves.
Svartabjørn, Anna Rebecca is buried in the grave with the Norwegian flag.
The lake Torneträsk.
During the trip we passed this waterfall leading out in the lake.
If you are in Narvik or Abisko in Sweden I will recommend a trip along the road with start on the Swedish side of the border and down to the sea on the Norwegian side. Here you will have some spectacular views.
Have a nice day
Harald

Very beautiful countryside! A very nice journey along the coast. Everything is still unspoiled and natural!
Glad you liked it. It doesn't live much people in the area, and less spoil

That is some amazing countryside! Your posts always make me wish I was there. I haven't heard of Svarya bjørn, though. What's the story?
