The old supply road from year 1900 on bike.
An evening trip on the old supply road from the building of Ofotbanen , 09.07.19.
2 weeks ago one of my daughters and I cycled the old supply road up from the mountain and down the valley to the fjord Rombaken. The weather was great and we had a nice time in the evening sun. The road was used to transport supplies during the buliding of the railroad. I have earlier posted the story behind this road as you can see here: https://steemit.com/history/@harkar/the-ofoten-line-and-the-navvy. During the walk last year the weather was bad with rain, fog and low clouds. Now you have a great opportunity to se part of the same road with nice weather ;-).
It is quite impressing what they managed with simple tools and dynamite to make the road up in the mountainside.
On this part, the road goes through a scree. For safety we did not ride the bike through it.
You can see the road down in the valley. From there the road follow the river down to the fjord Rombaken.
This picture is taken beneath the railroad. From here it is around 4,5 km to the fjord. It was late and we started to get hungry so we ended the trip here and decided to came back another time.

This is spectacular scenery and a wonderful place to hike! So peaceful and vast horizon! This reminds me of my holiday in Scotland years ago!
