List of Crazy and Mind blowing Examples of Animal Camouflage

in #nature6 years ago (edited)

For Humans, the idea of Camouflage is limited to the wearing of some green and brown colors with alternating patterns in order to blend in bushes and forest. But when compared to animals, this our camouflage is considered to be very pathetic.

This animals in my list have actually followed the evolutionary trend to really possess a very admirable, mind blowing and crazy camouflage adaptation you have ever seen

They actually blend in and actually disappear in thier environment

1. The Leaf Tailed Gecko

Making a reputation for itself, this lizard is a perfect match to the brown, dry leaves and it loves to bask on, making it practically invisible to predators.

2. Wrap Around Spider

image

The sight alone is so terrifying as this spider actually wraps itself round the branch of the tree to become nearly invincible.

3. Grey Tree Frog

image

Taking a very close look, you will notice a tiny grey tree frog perching on the vine that goes up the tree. This is some crazy impressive camouflage.

4. Children Stick Insect

This leafy colored insect is an exact duplicate to the plant it chills on. Its details are so impressive, including the vein that goes along the center of its back.

5. BuffTip Moth

This is so incredible, what more do you expect? This moth has undergone adaptation to look like a branch that was freshly cut.

6. Great Gray Owl

This is a very stunning sight to see as this Great Grey Owl perch on a branch while blending with the tree trunk adjacent to it. This is a very perfect spot to hunt for prey without drawing attention to itself.

7. StoneFlounder

This Ocean botton feeding fish changes its color depending on the various types of sand, stones and pebbles that it swims over on.

8. Copperhead snake

Take a deep look at the photo, can you make out this snake with its dark brown pattern? If you cant, focus on the center of the photograph

This feline cat can be faintly seen staring back at the camera, as its almost invincible in the bush. The only thing that can be seen is just the white fur around its mouth.

This dame of a butterfly blends in beautifully with flowers that have a very good similarity with the tiny versions of the butterflies. Isnt nature amazing?

11. Glauert’s Seadragon

This creature looks like a seahorse and has a lot of features that makes it similar to the waving kelps in the ocean bed.

12. Leopard

Well, many may think that a leopard spots can make it easy for them to spot! As you can see, that's not the case as the leopard is hardly seen as it peeks its head from the brown bushes.

13. Mossy leaf-tailed gecko

image

Its so mind blowing and a wonder how the skin of this lizard can look exactly as the tree branch. Its just like an identical copy.

14. Great Potoo

Having a similarity to an owl, this bird has feathers matching the brownish grey colors of the tree that it resides on.

This is another little lizard that is a pro at blending with its environment.

Hi @hamzeto. Some of the sentences on this article were paraphrased too closely with the original article found here. Please refrain from doing that in the future. You also have to cite the original article as your reference and cite your images' sources.

Use the content of the original article as your idea and elaborate them by using your own word. That would be a good start for making a great and unique article.

Wow, those are some amazing camouflage photos! Some of them took me a while to even find the animal. I wonder which animals recognize their environments help them hide and which ones are innately attracted to it. Great post!

This is a wonderful topic for discussion. You took too many species in my opinion. You could have picked out 5 that you would take your time to explain well enough. That would make more sense but this is also nice anyway...

steemSTEM is more than just a tag, you can join our community where a mentor can help you get better at writing science related posts. But of course, it's your choice. If you really want to join us, do so here

Its decent attempt @hamzeto. I like the topic and its content. However, you should consider what @chloroform and @pearlumie have suggested. Steemstem is a great platform for every science writers, but you must play by the rules.
By the way, I'm still looking for the snake...

Still looking for the snake as well... Lol
