Swiss Innovation: startup-companies that will change the world! (Part 1/5)

Hello my fellow Steemians. Yesterday I read an article about young companies that do have the potential to change the world for the better. So I’ve decided to take a closer look at them and bring it to steem to raise the awareness for these companies! All these companies are based in Switzerland and they show swiss innovation in an impressive way.

In the first part we are going to have a closer look at “Wildbiene + Partner”

About 30% of our food can thrive only if they are pollinated by insects. A large part of this is done by wild bees. Unfortunately many of the 600 different wild bee species are currently endangered. At the very same time, swiss honey bees are currently dying in large numbers because of the so called Varroa-mite which kills honey bees in large numbers. Especially if the winters are rather mild and warm, the numbers of deaths are even higher.

The startup “Wildbiene + Partner” is trying to do something against these circumstances. The method they are using is as simple as it is genius at the same time. They build little bee housings for wild bees and sell them.

Shortly after you have set them up, the first wild bees slip into the world and start to pollinate the blossoms in their surroundings very effectively. This is absolutely necessary because the wildbees grow their offspring in these little bee houses. With the coming winter, the larvae are going to pupate. When this happens, you just sent the beehouse back to the company where all the further necessary steps are handled correctly during the winter season. With the offspring, new bee houses will be populated, making sure that they can pollinate in spring again.

Especially for farms those bee housings became an indispensable asset for a sure and efficient pollination.

Some might say now: that they are afraid of bees because of their possible stings. But fear not: wild bees are by far not as aggressive as honey bees. They do have a sting, but it is so soft, it hardly makes it through human skin.
Wild bees do not produce honey, but they are very effective when it comes to pollination. But: wild bees are an endangered species because there are less suitable spots for their offspring each year.
“Wildbiene + Partner” creates exactly those needed habitats for the wild bees. They even can be held in cities because they are harmless to people.
