Geflecktflüglige Ameisenjungfer ■ Antlion lacewings

Die Geflecktflüglige Ameisenjungfer ist ein Netztflügler aus der Familie der Ameisenjungfern (Myrmeleontidae). Die Larve lebt im verborgenen im Boden. Für den Bau des Fangtrichters werden sandige trockene Stellen ausgewählt. Während man die Trichter der Laven öfters findet, ist das erwachsene Insekt nur schwer zu erkennen, da es am Tag in der Vegetation sitzt. Die Larven warten unter dem Trichter bis sich eine Ameise nähert und schnappt dann zu. Über den Tricher gibt es für die Ameise meistens kein Entkommen. So entwickelt sich die Raupe in zwei Jahren, um als erwachsenes Tier seine Beute im Flug zu fangen. Es werden kleine Insekten und auch Schmetterlinge erbeutet. Die Ameisenjungfer fliegt in den Sommermonaten Juli und August. Das nachtaktive Insekt gilt als relativ selten.
The antlion is a net-winged insect from the family of Myrmeleontidae. The larva lives hidden in the ground. Sandy dry places are selected for the construction of the funnel. While the funnels of the lavas are often found, the adult insect is difficult to recognize because it sits in the vegetation during the day. The larvae wait under the funnel until an ant approaches and then snaps shut. The ant usually cannot escape via the funnel. Thus the caterpillar develops in two years in order to catch its prey in flight as an adult animal. Small insects and butterflies are captured. The antilon flies in the summer months of July and August. The nocturnal insect is relatively rare.

Wow this is beautiful! It is funny for how many times I have read about the ant lion I don't know that I have ever read anything about the adult form. Really a stunning insect!
Nature still offers so many secrets that amazed us again and again. For me it is always fascinating what stories are hidden behind an insect when I have photographed it.

Na die ist ja mal spannend. Eine Jungfer, die sich 2 Jahre als Raupe vorbereitet, ehe sie sich herausputzt ;-) Leben alle Raupen vorher so lange? Ein starkes Foto in der Macrovariante (Was für ein Blick!) Danke LGG
Die Larve nennt sich Ameisenlöwe und ist ein ca 17 mm großes räuberisches Insekt. Es handelt sich hierbei um keine Raupen. Der Ameisenlöwe häutet sich zweimal und verpuppt sich im Sand bevor daraus die Ameisenjungfer schlüpft.
