The Christmas Bird That Doesn't Get Eaten : The Robin
One of the cutest of the small birds the robin stands out in winter with its red breast and friendliness.
If you've ever worked in the garden in autumn and winter you will have seen the robin hanging around looking for any worms or insects that you unearth while digging.
The robin stands out when you get snow. You will see them with their bright red chests flitting about in bushes. Guarding their territory. These little birds are very feisty and will fight to the death to protect their patch against other robins.
Rarely seen in summer robins will nest just about anywhere from old watering cans to hedges and bushes and open fronted nesting boxes. There nests are quite small and they lay around 4 bright blue eggs.
If you want a friend to hang out with while gardening this is the bird for you.
