The Flash Mob of the Bird World : The Longtailed Tit
The longtailed tit is an illusive bird that you seldom if ever see. But once you know what to look for you realise what you've missed.
The little birds with a tail longer than their body arrive occasionally in your garden in groups of ten or more and will be all over your bird feeders.
They maybe small but they are noisy little chaps.
They will appear from nowhere, raid the bird feeders and be gone in the space of 10 minutes.
Very little is known about the breading habits of the long tailed tit and i personally have never seen a long tailed tit nest but they are said to nest in brambles or gorse bushes. Making a ball nest from moss with a tiny entrance hole. They normally have between four and five eggs

The long tailed tit is a lovely bird I personally only really see them in my garden over the winter, you are correct about the nest I was once lucky enough to have one nest in my back garden many years ago, I don’t know if you have seen any of my posts of late about the nestbox cam I’ve been doing but it’s starting to get a bit more interesting, thanks mike
