I love box turtles! We have them on our place as well, though we see them infrequently, but I always enjoy it when we do.

My husband found one near our compost bin last year, and I released her (at least I think it was a her) in the ancient pond roughly 100 yards away.

The pond only holds water after heavy rains, but being at the edge of the woods, it stays damp-dry most of the year. I figured it would be a good place for her to forage.
