CICOGNE BIANCHE \\ WHITE STORK (ITA\ING)

le CICOGNE BIANCHE, questi bellissimi volatili, da ormai più di 10 anni sono presenti nel paese di Gavasseto in provincia di Reggio Emilia (5 chilometri da casa mia).
All’inizio erano due che andavano e venivano ora si contano più di trenta coppie nidificate tra Gavasseto e Roncadella, paese adiacente.

Che il clima stia cambiando ormai si sa e anche la natura dà i suoi indizi, negli anni passati erano solite migrare per posti caldi, da qualche tempo sono stabili in paese, complice anche il fatto che gli abitanti hanno accolto con affetto la loro permanenza, facilitandogli le cose, realizzando alti pali dove insediare i loro nidi, che necessitano di adeguate strutture per la loro costruzione.

Passeggiare per questi paesi e vedersi volare sopra la testa questi magnifici giganti è una sensazione stupenda, le cicogne raggiungono 1 metro di altezza e hanno un'apertura alare di 2 metri.
Non ci si abituerà mai anche se ormai è un po' che sono presenti nel territorio, e comunque ogni giorno qualcuno con macchina fotografica alla mano e naso all’insù, pronto a scattare una foto, c’è sempre!

In un paio di nidi oggi ho visto che amoreggiavano, probabilmente è periodo di accoppiamento, per curiosità ho fatto una piccola ricerca: le cicogne depongono 5/6 uova a distanza di una trentina di ore l’uno dall’altro, quindi poi si schiuderanno in sequenza e non tutte assieme.
Covano entrambi, sia il maschio che la femmina a turno, dopo 85/90 giorni, quindi verso agosto, saranno capaci di volare e abbandonare il loro nido per creare una loro famiglia.

Altra curiosità, quando migravano percorrevano Francia meridionale e la Spagna, alcune si fermavano nel Sud della Spagna altre continuavano verso il Marocco, Tunisia e Algeria per poi ripetere al contrario in primavera… una volta… ora stabili tutto l’anno almeno qui da noi!

Affascinanti e incantevoli! Ah per chi non lo sapesse ancora... le cicogne non portano i bambini! :)

The WHITE STORK, these beautiful birds, for more than 10 years now have been present in the village of Gavasseto in the province of Reggio Emilia (5 kilometers from my home).
In the beginning there were two who came and went now there are more than thirty nested pairs Gavasseto and Roncadella, adjacent country.

That the climate is changing now we know and even nature gives its clues, in fact, while before in the winter season they migrated to warm places, now for some years now they are stable in the country.
Thanks also to the fact that the inhabitants, they welcomed their stay, facilitating things by building high stakes where they will set up their nests and modifying poles of light or telephone to facilitate the immense nests that the storks build.

Walking around these villages and being seen flying overhead these magnificent giants, storks reach 1 meter high and have a wingspan of 2 meters, it's a beautiful feeling.
You will never get used to it even if it is now a bit that are present in the territory, and anyway every day someone with camera in hand and nose up ready to take a picture is always there!

In a couple of nests today I saw that they were still loving it's mating period, and out of curiosity I did a little research:
The Storks lay 5/6 eggs after thirty hours apart then they hatch in sequence and not all together, both hatch both the male and the female in turn, and at 85/90 days, then around August, they will be able to fly and abandon their nest to create their own family.

Another curiosity, when they migrated traveled through southern France and Spain, some stopped in the south of Spain others continued to Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria and then repeated backwards in the spring... Once... now stable all year at least here from us!

Fascinating and enchanting! Ah for the uninitiated... Storks don't bring children! :)
