Birds have no problems standing on cactus thorns.
Considering its called a Cactus wren its not surprising this bird has no issues hanging out on top of a tall cactus.
Plenty of cactus to choose from in the Arizona desert.
Why not hang out with your friend on a cozy cactus top made for two.
Got to say they have their choice of cactus, apparently there is not too much demand for that real estate LOL!
That is for sure, no shortage for anyone who wants to hang out and they all come with a view.

The weight is a big part of it.
You got me so intrigued with these photos, that i had to google it up, why can these birds sit on a cactus without pain. And the first obvious answer was - they've learned how to ... =)
Second answer was more detailed. They are so light that the force pushing down on the needles isn't strong and they manage to spread it on multiple needles. And the last thing that helps them is that they have zero or very little nerve endings in their feet and lower legs.

Very good investigative work, its always best to know the reasons why the things are the way they are.

Not sure what kind of bird the one with the red on the back is, I thought it was some variation of the sparrow family but I am no bird expert.
their feet are made for this only, they can stand almost anything,

Glad you like them, they can stand on all kinds of things most other creatures cant.
Apparently their feet can freeze allowing them to stand on freezing cold telephone wires.

Cute birds on the top of the tall cactus! It’s amazing that they can stand on the cactus thorns comfortably and without any harm.
