The buffalo was down to 300 in montana from 60 million because they blocked the railroads and they hired hunterd to keep on schedule and some native americans got addicted to the alchohol brpught over so would kill only for their hides hopefully coming to their senses and using the meet too and other parts of thr buffalo and hornaday helped bring back the numbers in buffalo as well as the cows dying in winter so people combined them with cows to make beefalos making the numbers rise .
